What other horse games have you tried?
-
I hope this is okay to post here but I was wondering how many of us here also play other horse games or have in the past?
Many years ago I used to play a game called Horse Isle. Then they made a Horse Isle 2 so I joined the life cycle version; quite enjoyed the quests, breeding and competing aspect of that. Waiting 2 weeks for foals to be born was a test of my patience though! I’d say all my horses on there would be dead by now lol, it’s been a long time since those days!
Right now I’m pretty solidly addicted to HJ2 since joining in April this year but am wondering if there are any other games I could keep up with on my phone now that work isn’t so busy. -
I used to play the crap out of Virtual Horse Ranch! It's a lot more fiddly and technical than HAJ/HJ2, but you're working with "real" breeds and you can focus on any discipline you want. I remember trying to min/max different types of training (dressage practice/barrels/eventing/trail rides/a TON more) to optimize my horse's stats heh. It doesn't generate horse pictures for you though - some people illustrated pictures for other users, but I remember searching Google Images intently to find just the right picture of a bay Arabian haha. It's a good one, but it's a lot more work! I think they have a 3d version out now (?) but I've never played that one.
I also was on a handful of text-based horse RPG forums, but I don't remember what they were called haha. I can still remember the fancy HTML text box graphics someone made for my favorite character. -
Oh goodness... so many! SquishLime, I also played Horse Isle for years! I think I had my HI1 account for something close to 8 years before I was inactive for a long period and they deleted it. I still have an HI2 account that I log into occasionally - I enjoy the quests a lot and catching the ponies is fun.
I also played Howrse, although I never got very into it. It was so repetitive with all of the clicking. I did think the black market was fun though... I liked all the boosts you could give your horses.
I played Horse Eden Eventing for a while - was very into that one, but kind of fell off the wagon over a few months, my best horses aged out, and it was too overwhelming to start over.
And finally... who remembers Horse Land?? Way back before it was a cartoon and the art for the game become ugly. Oh, and before rules started being enforced. Man, that game was wild back in the day... people used to run "slaughterhouses" where they would buy up horses and wait for the game to delete them. One of my accounts was a rescue where I bought terrible horses to prevent them from being deleted, lol. Horse Land was another where you could upload any old picture off google to represent your horse - people used to edit them with song lyrics over top... it was a wild time. -
Horse Land was my favorite. Once they switched to cartoon and all age-friendly I was done with that. It made it ugly.
Horse Isle/HI2 I liked them both and played for years but then when I lost my computer I haven't played in so long... the games there are a mix between annoying and fun. But I have Skillz on my phone for that mind game stuff now. Not to mention if you couldn't figure it out? There's cheat sites out there. LOL
Howrse was ok. I quit within a month. Not enough to do other than click click click.
VHR (virtual horse ranch) was another favorite for about a half a year.
Once I stumbled on this it was game over. Slow going but enough of a draw to get back here and check things... and well, I think I've made quite an impressive regular customer base and have some fans. And EVERYBODY is friendly!!ID# 24891

I started with expage games. Super old school.
I played Horse Land way back too. Bred Arabians and dogs. Got a lot of hate for the dogs, but hey. And then it changed and was just bleh.
I played Ludus Equinus when it first started.
I played A Virtual Horse for a while. Keep thinking about going back but I just don't want to put that kind of time into a game. -
I used to play Bellasara the I sawHowrse. Got my mom to playhowrse. Then grandma. We enjoyed playing together. Grandma spent EXTREME amounts of money. Then the breeding teams came along.... then it was only rich people with tons of money could survive. I hung on. Then grandma got cancer and stopped playing. Barely touched it since and now my once best of the best horses are obsolete. Way too much time and money to stay even in the running.
Edit: just checked my Howrse account and looks like I was booted from my team. Lol. Can’t blame them. Even if I did found it....Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses. -
I did quite a lot of artwork for Eqcetera so used to play that and got bored. Also played Howrse, and had a small look at Equiverse but never really stuck. I really enjoyed Horse Isle but had to give it up after my laptop couldn't cope with it. I had a stunning blood red chestnut arab mare with bird spots.
Talking about other Sims, I was in Furry-Paws for absolute years and used to sell a lot of art on there and raised a lot of top dogs. I left it after I went to uni as it didn't feel like it would be a good idea for me to stick around as it takes up a lot of time. After that I found DogDayz which I loved, and also dynastydog which I was gutted when it went down.
EDIT: Think it might be a worth adding that I actually vowed to not play another sim until I got my life sorted out. I found HJ2 at the same time I got a job, and the rest is history :) I get super lonely in this country and this gives me a sense of community as I work at home.#4519 -
I saw somewhere that they might be making a Horse Isle 3, which I must admit got me a bit excited. If they made a mobile version then I’d probably join up again, I just can’t be bothered using my laptop anymore!
Did anyone ever play Horse Saga, the breeding game on Facebook? It closed down years ago but I got really into that during my university days haha -
When I was younger, I just played Farmville and exclusively bred and collected rare horses/foals :)
(As dinky as that sounds lol) I remember there used to be a little page where people would share links, and if you were fast enough you'd get the horse. :x
There were so many pretty ponies there, I LOVED it. (If only my eight year old self knew about half the games everyone is talking about- woo. I never would have left the computer!)

Some of these I wouldn't have remembered until I saw what other people posted. Hahah
I remember playing horse land waaay back in the day as well and yes, it really was wild. I don't remember exactly why I left but I do remember having a hard time keeping up with the game so that probably had something to do with it.
I think I had a howrse and dabbled very briefly with horse isle.
Pretty sure no one else will have played this game but maybe I'm wrong. This was a game for the Sega Saturn called Winning Post where you had to work your way up in the thoroughbred racing world. You are an owner and start with just a couple horses but as you win more and get more money and fame you can buy more horses, trade foals/horses, and eventually breed horses (including your own if they do well enough). I looooved that game so much that I actually still own it and a working Sega Saturn...just for that one game. hahahID: 40723 -
I played Howrse but didn’t like it much. My major horsey game addiction prior to HJ was PonyBox. It’s used to be an amazing game. I’m some ways more interactive than HJ, but no color genetics at all. Just conformation stats and hidden show stats on real breeds. I had a goal to repopulate the server with “extinct” breeds and got to see horses from my stock become best of the best.
I also was pretty addicted to Furry-Paws, and raised a lot of nice border collies and Great Danes.
