Tempted to sell his foals back to the game and add chinchilla. Need opinions!
-
Okay, this guy had 5 keeper foals from his first breeding season, but I'm SO TEMPTED to sell them all back to add chinchilla. I need some pros/cons stat please! I'd especially like advice on how the chinchilla gene works - does het chinchilla show, or does it have to be hom? How exactly does it change color? And will I definitely be able to mod him if I sell the foals?
Here's my boy:

Here's the inspiration that had me drooling:

Okay, so chinchilla must have two copies to show at all. (Its kinda like the closed gene mushroom in that sense)
Some pros of selling his foals back and buying chinchilla;
-you would now own the gene.
-you could always buy eggs from other players to make Hom babies.
The only bad things that I can think of are
-its a little spend for homozygous
-it doesn't show when het.
-you can't sell straws to everyone and anyone
Honestly, if YOU really like the gene, and you have the extra money, Id say go for it. -
Gotcha, thanks! It is a little spendy, but I'm honestly obsessed haha.
It sounds like if I'm just patient, I can expect hom babies in the 3rd generation since all his offspring will be het. That would be worth the wait! -

Yep it’s only 4 months to wait to breed the siblings back to the sire for hopefully homo foals. I got my Axiom studs on hj1 in July and am starting to get some homo foals popping up showing all their colourful coats.

Tip;
For a higher chance of homo foals, buy an egg or two and if they produce a colt, keep it and breed that colt to your het mares
Edit: he is gorgeous BTW -
Thanks everyone! I'm so excited, he's so pretty :)

Thanks @Maribo :x I've berm ogling him and dreaming of pretty silver babies all morning haha!

Since nobody answered how it changes the color...
Chinchilla basically is an absence of red based pigments. So chestnuts are solid white. Bays are mostly white with black legs and slight shading.#28036
