Special Genes?
  • Does anyone have a few examples of some special genes? I’m thinking about buying the liscense to one but I wanted to see what each of them looked like before I chose one.
  • You can find basic examples of most of them in the Genetics Guide

Another good way to snoop is to play around with the search or peruse the threads in the "Breeding Ads and Sales" category as many people advertise their special gened studs there.

You can see some of my special gened boys Here on their breeding thread. I have a few more that are in the works that are not advertised yet.

Always looking to buy foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.

I work a 7day on 7day off schedule and my activity here will reflect that.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me.
  • Honestly, the easiest way is to use the search function! Go to the tab with the gene on it and click "must have" to the active gene. You can add in colour names (black, brown, bay, etc) to see how it affects different base coats.

  • How do I find the names of the special genes? I honestly don’t even know which ones are available. I tried to search around for a list of them but I was unsuccessful. I don’t know my way around very well so I’m probably looking in the wrong place. I made my account a year ago but only just now started playing heavily. So I’m still feeling a little new lol
  • If you give me a sec, ill make a list of the closed genes and their abreviations :)

Edit: I don't know if that's been done before, ill also have to check on that. Also- I just added all of the ice genes and nexus.
  • Alright! Thank you so much! It’s a huge help! :)
  • If I missed any, lemme know! It'll take a bit, but ill go find some links for the genes. (Also, note that the abreviations are all in homozygous form.)

  • In the search page, mushroom and chinchilla are under base colours. All of the rest are under patterns. You don't have to write the name down in the "Color name" bar. I tend to find it easier to just chose my patterns and special colours as "must have", and put the base colours under the colour name since that's less likely be to screwed up.

And I think you only missed Nexus, which is on the same location as axiom but it's open. Nx is it's genetic marker.

  • Yup! Thank you obsidian. :) ill add it

Its no problem! Ive been meaning to do this for myself anyway, so it'll help the both of us out lol.

  • My learning curve with the search engine here has been pretty steep but, as I slowly figure it out, I have found it an indispensable tool in broadening my knowledge.
I highly reccomend playing with it as much as you can. :)

  • Ice 1 and Ice 8 are open genes, I believe.

If you scroll down to the bottom of your home page, you should see all the closed, must buy a license genes listed, with the names grayed out of all that you don't have a license to breed.

  • Thanks guys!

So far I really love Watercolor, Machiato, Mushroom and Chinchilla. I also love the sooty plus I’ve seen in the game. :)
  • Phenotypically, what's the difference between Mushroom and Chinchilla? Is it just that one expresses on red and one expresses on black?
  • Mushroom mutes red, and is based on the real life mushroom gene found in shetlands. Expression varies with red according to sooty and dilutes. The red on bay is muted, black points and blacks are unaffected. Chinchilla completely removes red and, is a fantasy gene based on the chinchilla rabbit gene. Any ee horse turns into a REW, even if is a liver chestnut. Plain black is unaffected, but black+dilute will show change. The red on bay is removed, and expression can vary.

  • Man that Ice13, I can't wait for it to show up in the roving sales.
  • I'm with you @seldomseen. I've been drooling over i13 since I found it in search. 2 of my accounts will be picking it up when it comes through.

  • Also, any ice gene with ice 2 makes the ice 2 look "rainbow" colored.

  • Except that the "rainbow" effect does not happen for homozygous Ice 2.

  • The list of genes that have the potential to show up in the Roving Gene Sales is part way down the page in this thread:

You can see which ones are currently available, and place your order on the Upgrades and Extras: Upgrade With Real Money page.
