What should i add to this boy?
-
Y'all probably saw my last post about me looking for an unbred hidden gates to do some work on.. Well guess what.
01 Hide My Wallet
I found one! So I was thinking, and this is what I could do.
I could either afford to buy a 10 pack of GMT tokens, or i could splurge and buy some closed genes with that money. If I bought the tokens, I could add either kit promoter or gulastra plume..and who knows what I could add on the first.
I'm having problems here guys. What do you think would look good on my boy? (I'm definitely gonna wait and see what good on sale, but I just wanna know everyone's opinion)
-
I guess I would say, What do YOU want? What are your breeding goals and go from there. I wouldnt worry about what the masses think unless you are planning on keeping him available for the general public. But trends change and what they like today may not be what they want after you get him finishedWatercolor, Chinchilla, Axiom, Nexus, Wrong Warp, Nacre, Ice 5/8, Satin and Pearl

I know :) I was thinking, and the thing that id like is really expensive. That, plus I don't know how gulastra plume or kit promoter would look on him; would they not really show up because of how light he is?
(The fact that he has pearl AND cream)
Yes, I was thinking about making him available to the public. (Occasionally) I like getting input from others, even if I don't DO anything with it- I love hearing and thinking about what he would look like with other genes that I never even thought to put on. -
One thing to think about is, Gulastra Plume only shows on bay horses. So you wouldn’t see anything on this guy unless you made him a bay. I honestly wouldn’t worry about if you can see the Kit Promoter, I did that on mine and it’s hard to see ( but I also made him mushroom so he became much lighter).
I second what Levesel2 said, do what makes you happy. I personally love roan, and removed the W20 on my boy for roan. I also took away the rabicano, just because I’m not a huge fan of it. One thing you could consider is, if you like the chocolate pearl look, changing his cream to a pearl, and breeding him to cremello hom sooty mares. That guarantees all foals will either be Palomino pearl or chocolate pearl (depending on if they get the copy of DP or not).
Another thing to consider is, he is an exceptionally Perfect stud. Unless you have a lot of exceptionally Perfect or exceptional producer mares, it can be a little more difficult to get passing foals without a full pasture bonus (at least in my experience with my boy). So there is a chance you will get lots of pretty show foals with a closed gene addon. In the end, it’s up to you. Just a few things to consider. -
Lord of the Gate
This will give you an idea of what KP looks like on a HG boy.
I also have mushroom on him and snowflake. I changed the W20 to toby, because I don't like W20 much.
But I second what eveyone says. It's what YOU want on him.
I'm just showing you mine because you wanted to know what KP might look like. :) -
My opinion would be go for a closed gene, simply because I love closed genes and I would have all of them, several foundations of each, if I had the money. :P KP and GP are nice, but they've never been my favorite genes in the game - hence why I don't have much of either. As everyone else has said, of course, he is your horse and in the end it's up to what you like :)ID: 16853

If you ask 100 people what they’d do with that horse you’d get 100 different answers.
Personally I’d need to use 5-6 gmts just to get to a base start point before even starting to add anything fancy which is why I sold mine to someone who could use him better.
You need to do what you want to do. It’s your money and if you spend it all on a horse that you don’t really like is it really worth it?
First sit down and write down all the genes you Love, then list all the ones you like, then which you don’t care for. And within each group rate them too to bottom and add a gmt total beside each of how many it would take to add as many copies as you want. If the top pattern in the love column is attainable with 10 or less gmt’s then add it. Keep moving down until you’ve used them up.
Before actually buying them open the search and input all the genes the horse has with any alterations from your list and see if you like the list that shows up. You may be able to put every gene in or just the patterns to see how they interact -
He got his first round of modification. :) hom pearl. Im going to add watercolor and maybe chinchilla next- thank you guys so much for your input :D
Edit:
I removed rabicano, too :)

Just remember, if he is hom chestnut, including liver, he is going to turn out pure white with red eyes with chinchilla.ID# 47364
Breeding for all version of black drafts. (Including black liver)
Help me build my black brindle army!
Always looking to buy foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.
I work a 7day on 7day off schedule and my activity here will reflect that.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me. -
Yup. I had to add bay and silver to my chinchilla stud to see it. Chinchilla looks really beautiful on a silver bay. (Just search some chinchilla horses and you will see what it works best on.) Watercolor would look really pretty IMO. But I like it. I think it's fun to play with. I have a watercolor/ice 9 stud. I love what the two do together.
