Collect eggs or not on mares aging out...
-
What would you do? I could lose 210 horses at rollover. Was going through seeing you could possibly pass away. What do you all do with your mares? Do you breed them for the final time probably or do you collect them or do you do a mass flush?I have some nice mares that I can't decide what to do?
-
If they were a particular favorite, I would collect all season and then mass flush at the end so I had as many eggs as possible. If at all possible, I would try and clone her if she was someone I really didn't want to let go.
-
I have never cloned so not sure even how to do it.
-
I only collect eggs from my GMTd foundations. All others could always be replaced, at least in my mind :)
-
Cloning can only be done on a horse you have created, so if you didn't make her, it's a no go. You need 50? IVs to do it in the advanced breeding lab. No LE genes or special genes will transfer.
I think I have that right. I've not done one yet, but there are a couple I am thinking about doing it for in the future. @FallenShadows714 do I have this right? -
Yep, none of the genes you paid real money for will clone. Also, the ice genes that were for GMT sale recently will not clon either. I’m not entirely sure about snowflake. 50 IVs for the first clone, and I believe every subsequent clone after that the price raises.
-
I'm not sure if S+ or KP will clone. I think Ammit said they are not supposed to.
-
I think it's only genes that can happen on foundations - so snf and dp would clone, kp and gp would not, etc. Not 100% sure on that, though. A guide of what clones and what doesn't would sure be handy.ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

I will flush very favorite mares. I always flush my special gene foundation mares every season for their last few.
I flush maybe one or two lined mares a season. Theyve gotta be super special for me to do so lol -
I'm trying to flush my KP mares every season until they pass out. I really really want that line to have a really strong base. It's hard to get them to pass SBA from straws and eggs as it is, so I don't have many.
-
I'm flushing my GMT'd ones every season until they go - like Cheval says, passing SBA is harder without that pasture bonus. Any that haven't been GMT'd, though, I've not been too worried about - like Maribo points out, they're probably replaceable. I'd spend the money you might use to flush them on finding a replacement instead. 125k should be more than enough money for any foundation short of a hom dp liver chestnut create or hom snf appy create - and those I'd be flushing because they're practically GMT'd at that point anyways.
And for maximum eggs on those you do plan to flush, pull an egg every five days now until the last pull on or before the 25th, which leaves time for the mass flush at the end on the 30th (last day) of this month.ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

I flushed some Nanotech Primers last season and I flush mares GMTd with special genes as they get close to aging out. I’ve also flushed a few who go back to my original lines, but not many. Definitely don’t waste my money flushing normal foundations or anything I can easily replace.
I’d also say, how much do you already use eggs? If you make a lot of use of the breeding lab, then go for it but if you don’t use it much then are the eggs just all going to sit there? I breed in the lab VERY little—too expensive for too much heart break from the snipping gods... -
I pull eggs on my ice and satin mares when I think about it to increase numbers but I don’t always think about it and rarely flush.
On hj1 I’ve flushed a bit more but usually only if someone had requested multiple eggs and I didn’t want to forget to continue to pull them.
I usually forget I have eggs and straws until after all my mares have been bred lol
