Me, after spending hours in agony sifting through foals and putting them up for auction, because I have no space and should probably start to get rid of yellow foals at some point:"That's it, no more buying outside foals. Just safe the slots for your mares's offspring and slowly get to where you want to be."

Also Me:"Oh, such a pretty filly! How much is it?"

Pretty sure that's the running theme of everyone in this game with the exception of about three or four highly disciplined individuals (and who knows who they are) :))

Shiny syndrome is hard to beat!

@lallyhop, I'll openly proclaim myself as one of the few who can curb the shiny syndrome... The last horse I bought was a het nexus colt foal 2 seasons ago!
My strategy is pretty simple, just don't look at what's for sale! I also don't sell any of my own stock and primarily focus on my bootstrap line. So the less need I have to look at the sales board, the less likely I'll buy something.

I am only disciplined in my DinaChill and ChilliFireFarm guise - Dinascar is a sucker for any pretty thing going. She can't even get rid of her failed foals with useless PTs because they look nice and last auction bought 2 watercolor geldings because they were pink - I give up (I don't even like pink, well maybe a little!). Please don't tempt me anymore...

I manage to keep most of my buying restricted to chat rooms instead of the public boards. I love people who list horses with no description—no description means no temptation! But here and there there is a temptation that overwhelms me, or a hole I need to fill in my lines...

My major vice is straw/egg sales, especially since I do very very very little lab breeding so my freezer is completely stuffed full!
