Mushroom.. ISO buying and advice
  • So I feel like I didn't know what I was doing when getting my niece mushroom.. I got it on a Stallion, and obviously he's only had het foals.. so will we ever be able to get a hom foal from him without a hom foundation mare also? I knew I should have gotten it on a mare also.. lol
I'm looking for some hom 2gs to buy if possible.. to breed to all of my hets...
    Any and all advice appreciated!
What have you all being doing with your shrooms?
    Thanked by 1BlackWyld
  • I have yet to get an intacted Hom from my shrooms but I have high hopes for this season. (I have two hom foundie mares and 3 hets that could give me hom babies.)
I have kept all my 2g het fillies from last season and my highest papered 2g het colt. I am hoping they will be giving me some hom babies by the time they age up.
I really hope I don't end up with all hom showponies this year. It seems like everyone has had better luck with my stud than me. LOL :-))

Always looking to buy foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.

I work a 7day on 7day off schedule and my activity here will reflect that.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me.

  • I'm still waiting for approval into the lisenced club.. are there horses available for breeding in it?
  • I only bought a het mare. Now that I have the license for shroom and watercolor, I'm free to play with them as I see fit... So I ran out and bought a het colt of each gene. I'm not expecting a hom that passes ba til sometime early next year, but I have time.

@kamsspare there are a couple up.

  • I also only got a hom mushroom stud, mainly due to lack of funds. My plan is to probably incorporate other het mushroom horses from other lines/players and breed them with mine once they are old enough. Fingers crossed for hom babies in the future.

  • Most people would be willing to sell/trade straws as well if you want to go that route.

  • If you keep your het mushroom gen2 fillies, and buy a het mushroom gen2 colt, then by gen3 you should start to see some mushroom foals! Just a longer term plan!

  • For hom foals out of a hom/none pairing, you want to be looking at third gen. I did the math a while back and can’t remember where I put it, but I think it was roughly that if you breed a hom stud to non-carrying mares, and every year you breed them, then breed their foals to each other and do so every year (no game penalties for inbreeding) then as long as you’re only looking for one particular gene (not mushroom and pearl and satin and and and...), starting with just under eight mares you should have at least one (likely two) intact hom foals of each gender by year five or six from your start.

Statistically speaking, of course. I’d have to rerun that to make sure I’m remembering right, and I think I was also assuming a roughly 50% intact rate and a full pasture bonus, matching papers.

Your actual experience may vary widely, lol, as we all know after finally getting one filly after a dozen colts.

A note aside, though, I was one of the people to put mushroom on a (freaky friday) mare, so if anyone wants to talk to me about buying eggs please PM me. I’m regularly pulling and will mass flush at the end of the season. I also have a nice hom 2G filly and colt waiting to age up that I’ll be selling straws and eggs from. I do think I’ll never be putting a closed gene on a stud again, lol. Straws are so much easier to come by and you get more foals, but having gorgeous hom 2Gs has inspired me to go “quality over quantity” from now on :))

  • I have a hom mare (Hidden Gates). I haven't gotten any hom fillies yet but I have 2 hom colts. PM me if you're interested in eggs.

  • Coincidentally, I just put my hom MU foundation stallion up for a forum auction!
