A quick background - I was interested in this game, because ... you can ride horses. Right up until I saw this image.

what's going on there? Is it a halter with reins attached? Is it a western style bridle, put on upside down? Does anyone have any ideas?

I've seen some odd stuff, but this 'reins to the ears' thing is definitely a new one O.O

That poor horse looks a little put out lol.

That said, I may or may not have tack that is broken and duct taped back together and has been for years... you gotta do what you gotta do.

I’ve seen some games with sub par horse graphics, but this one is particularly bad.

I’m not much of a video gamer anymore (I mostly played with my brother so once I moved away to college that slowed down a lot) but my favorite horse rendering from a video game were the horses in the first assasins creed game. Decent accuracy on their graphics and one of the few games not focused on horses where the horses can walk, trot and gallop. Usually the horses can only gallop everywhere in my experience.

@salvistar - oh, I love critiquing how well they've rendered and animated animals in games - especially horses! If you ever get the chance, I strongly recommend Breath of the Wild and Red Dead Redemption! I was also pleased by the horses in the sims 3!

(Honourable mention to Bethseda, who did pretty well in skyrim, but managed to forget that horses can walk backwards? I'm ... not sure why, they managed to walk backwards in oblivion just fine O.o)

I'm sitting here trying to figure out exactly how/ how well such a set up would even work?
@HTRanch lol been there, especially with my boy Watch Me Go in my avatar picture, he can be a terror on tack, fence, or anything that keeps him from trying to hang out on my front porch... Sometimes I don't know what to do with him but he is my baby.

Oh gosh, yes @Sunlit - the horses in Breath of the Wild. I wasted waaaay too many hours just riding and enjoying the scenery! Almost as good as the real thing :))

I have enough trouble putting things over my horse's ears let alone having the reins attach to them :))
Love it when there are horses in games - I used to play a paladin in NeverWinter Nights just to ride the white horse! :)

Lucinda greens equestrian challenge was fun I still play that on my PS2 I really like Red Dead Redemption and it's ponies Silver Buckle Stables kind of fun

Obviously the artist for that game is a member of PETA and disapproves of putting metal in horses mouths so the rider can have complete control. :D

Okay, so, I'm a mom, Paw Patrol is going on at least one tv in this house 24/7(it seems) and I came back into the living room the other day, my child is glued to the TV, and the setup on the pony was like the pic above... Nope not today child, this is the episode that put us over the paw patrol limit today... talking dogs? yep. Driving dogs? okay. Merpups? Bring it on! I apparently, draw the line at messed up tack on cartoon ponies.

And this is why, when writing, drawing, or animating, you should do your research - a random side group will get hooked on whatever you did wrong, no matter how much you think “oh, they won’t notice” =))

That paw patrol pony looks like they are planning to steer it like you'd steer a rudder on a boat or something...

Love how there's a saddle AND the obviously faulty harness!
