So after playing for just over a year I am coming to the realization what I love to breed for.
Kit M, Liver S+, Pearl, KP, W3, W10, Nexus. I think thats it. Maybe some classic champagnes.
The problem. My barns are stuffed full of pretty ponies I have spent time and money on. Even the WaterColor isnt doing it for me. I dont know what to do. Looking for advice, pros and cons of somewhat starting over. What do I do with the horses with good points? Im finally making OK showing bonus. Im overwhelmed every breeding season. Breeder of KitM, W10, W3, Livers, Chocolates, Brown, S+, Pearl, Macchiato, Nexus, and WaterColor! -
Keep the horses with good points. Even if you just geld and spay them and put them in a Show Barn.
If it were me I would keep the horses with exclusive genes I spent real money on. Then I would just start incorporating them into lines you like such as the nexus, KitM, Sty+ etc.
Anything else stallion or mare wise that doesn’t fit what you want, or have one of those expensive genes I would geld/spay and keep to Show or auction them off in the public auction.
You’ll feel less overwhelmed if you cut down on your breeding stock just to what you enjoy.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

I have started again twice...as much as it pained me, I sold up all the lines I wasn't using or that I just felt "Meh" about (Thunderstruck and i14).
Keep your show horses...If you can...sell any lines you don't like and buy more barn space with it. The bigger the show herd then the more you will be able to buy the horses that you really want to work with.
I have limited myself to only a few lines...and I intend to keep it that way. I too became very overwhelmed...Keep it simple.♡ ID #23495 ♡

I have been playing now for almost 2 RL years and I am in the process of really starting again.

I've given up and sold off 2 lines recently, and I've been playing less than a year!
When your interests change, there's nothing wrong with changing your herds to suit. Snip the best PT horses for show, and sell the rest. I did a forum post and a relevant chat post, and whatever didn't sell that way I put into auction. I was oddly concerned about the pixel ponies' feelings :D but it all worked out great and I had more barn space for the lines I love. -
I am also in the middle of a purge. I am doing a few generations at a time. I have done gen 1 stallions - most just got snipped and put into my showbarns, I sold/auctioned my RS mares/stallions that I am not using.
I am currently culling Gen 2 and Gen 3 mares. I have set aggressive AFPT numbers in an aim to greatly reduce my herd, and removing anything below. I have also combined some of my lines. Ice is now combined with all the rainbow riot genes. It is easy to let this get out of control. -
I’d keep the lines you’ve spent money on even if you just let them sit around and collect straws and eggs every once in a while. You may come back them and if you collect eggs and straws you’ve got tons of time to bring them back lol.
As for the rest go through and snip any of the breeding horses that don’t have the genes you want to breed for or don’t make you go Oooooh I like that.
Once you’ve gone through the breeding horses if you need to cull for room start with the older horses with low points compared to their similarly aged peers starting with the oldest and work your way down until you have enough spaceThanked by 1GeneverGinger
