Ah, This is a bad Idea. Too excited.
  • Ok, so I started this game with the goal of creating a population similar to one a horse I made up in a story would have come from. (Cheesy, I know, but it has helped me figure out what it would look like more)
Now this was descriptions for narration assuming readers do not know horse genetics or color names, but this horse was described as a smokey brown horse with large hooves and dark face. Pictures I drew were something in the middle between a brown dun and a dark sooty plus bay dun. He was in the large for a pony, small for a horse range, and often criticized for not coming from pedigreed lines, but being a horse caught in the Wildlands, yet he was his master's favorite steed aside from the dragon. Got an AGA colt from my new DarkStar boy, and looking at him, I realized he was Konick, the goal I had with my herd. True, his Pt is low and I will have to make him consistent, but he is aga and everything else I am looking for, plus het satin, which I've decided I am not as against as I used to be, so that is a fun plus as well. Still, with the high turnover rate with bootstrap studs lately with many getting replaced before they even reach age I am telling myself that I am setting myself up for trouble. Getting way too excited over this little boy. :)

  • He's a lovely colt. I'd be delighted to find him in my pasture.
You consider 12.10 to be a low PT?

  • Yeah, I was going to say that PT is pretty fantastic! I've just starting to get my horses into the 12 zone by generation 5, and even then that's just barely under or barely over the 12 barrier :D He's lovely, congrats!

EDIT: You have 1776, horses and 318 of them are over 12 PT. Only 18% of your herd is 12 or above, that's pretty impressive!

In comparison to my horses, I have 3354 and only 190 of them are or above 12 pt. Only 5.6% of my horses are as great as your horses :D

  • Well, some people choose stallions based on pt, and he is taking the spot I had for his 2 year old brother with a 13.4 pt, my best score yet, because he tested superior.
Considering the pasture he was from, I actually was about to cull his mother when I saw she threw that pt, but how he tested otherwise saved her.
    The power of bootstrap.
  • I did the same thing with my first WHG/Shoco herd stallion, Sunshine Superman. He was a combination of a roan dream horse from my youth, and a palomino show horse I knew in southern California in the 80s, who had that same name!
