Not at all upset by it, but wondering if it's happened to anyone else.

Was going through my free daily rolls, the counter said I had "1 free roll left." The current HH was "Great Show Horses," and who doesn't want some of those? So I activated that HH and no new one came up and suddenly it's 5k to roll a new one. What happened to my one roll left? In the past it's automatically rolled for me when I activate the HH.

Again, not upset, just curious.

Every time you activate it uses a roll. Otherwise you could just active them forever.

No, this happened for me too. I just noticed it last night. Normally, it goes like so:

Current option (rank# etc) “you have 5 rolls left”

reroll/use

Current option “you have 4 rolls left”

all the way to:

current option “you have 1 roll left”

reroll/use

current option “pay 5k for new roll”

use

no options “pay 5k for new roll”

——

This time, however, it seemed to skip. When I just rerolled, it was fine and went like normal.

It went like so:

current option “you have 1 roll left”

reroll

current option “pay 5k for new roll”

use

no options “pay 5k for new roll”

Just rerolling was fine. However, on my main account, I went like this:

current option “you have 1 roll left”

use

no options “pay 5k for new roll”

This has happened twice total - the first time, I just throught I was seeing things or miscounted, the second time I realized it was wrong.

There's something else new I've noticed with HH. I used to get different ones every roll, but for the last week or so a lot of the time I get the same one twice in the daily free rolls, and one day even got one three times. Dark Red Dun loves me. lol

I've also noticed if I roll one I've clicked recently, sometimes it doesn't register as a new herd helper even if the old one has ended before I activate the new one.

Once you've used a HH on any given day, even if it comes up again and you click on it, it will switch to something else. It doesn't let you ACTIVATE the same HH twice. Ammit had to explain it to me, because it happened two or three times.

Also, once you make the mistake with the re-rolls, you should be aware of it, and be able to avoid paying the 5k by keeping an eye on the number of rolls you've used.

I too have noticed that activating the fourth DHH never rerolls. There's just no option, and skipping a mild interesting HH on the fourth go of a day to reroll a new option works, so it's not just a miscount on my part.

Confluence, I’ve thankfully not accidentally used any money yet! I’ve certainly heard a couple whoopsies from people who have, and so it’s been making me extra careful to keep an eye on the number of rolls left. That’s actually how I noticed this bug of a sort in the first place. :D

I'd be so happy if I kept getting Dark Red Dun HH but so far I've had no luck. It always offers me white patterns which I'm not interested in

That sounds like what the counter is supposed to be doing. I don't understand what the supposed issue is. (Perhaps I just can't follow the formatting/what your post means) If you click reroll OR you active it rerolls. Anytime a new DHH shows up it rerolls. The DHH activation box will vanish if you have not paid for/have no free rerolls.

You can't activate the same DHH twice on the same day. That is a known bug.

Sorry, I’m not sure how to make it clearer. Perhaps screenshots would help? If so, I can work through that.

Or, if you want to replicate it on one of your accounts, click to activate the hh when it says 1 free reroll left.

Compare that to not clicking to activate it at all.

The first option ends up shorting you a free hh. This does not happen on other numbers (so if there’s three free rerolls left, etc.)

Or, for another way to phrase it, activating it when you have 1 free reroll left leaves you with the same screen you’d get if you had no free rerolls left and activated the remaining hh then. The result of no hh and no rerolls looks the same, whether you activate it and have no rerolls left, or 1 reroll left.

I just tried this and mine worked perfectly. I made sure to count very carefully and had no issues, I got exactly five rerolls. I was given a dun HH to begin, rerolled to get Exceptionally Perfect (first reroll), rerolled again to get Het Sabino 1 (second reroll), rerolled to get Buckskin (third reroll), and then rerolled to get True Dark Silver Bay Dun (fourth reroll). After activating this fifth HH (from the fourth reroll so one roll left), I was able to reroll one more time for Hom Rec Flaxen, giving my sixth HH/fifth reroll. I activated this sixth HH and now the bottom is blank because I haven't paid for another. Did it happen to you again today?

Thanks for the input! Yes, it did happen again today, I just checked. That’s interesting that it’s not happening on all accounts.

I’m going to check tomorrow and see what activating all of them in a row does, and whether it counts properly when I get to the end.

Alright, just checked. It still skipped this time, with activating every single one. Never got the screen where it showed a herd helper without having any rerolls left. Just went from one to activate and one reroll left, clicked activate, was left with no others to activate.

I do understand what Lallyhop is saying as this has happened on occasion with mine as well.

So on the second to last reroll if you activate it you sometimes lose the last reroll you should have (and would have had if you clicked reroll instead). Instead of it rolling automatically to a new HH (like it does if you activate it on the first or second roll) itis just blank instead and tells you that you need to pay for the next one. If Lallyhop doesn't get screenshots of it I'll try to remember to do it. Personally, I'm just happy to have any extra rerolls so I haven't been too bothered by it but I have had it happen to me before. ;)

@Ren, if you can manage screenshots, that would be wonderful.
I’m not too bothered either, but I’ve found myself reluctant to click the second to last since I know I’m likely to lost the last, lol. Definitely a low priority bug with all the other stuff going, but will be nice to have it fixed eventually :)

I can just click the activate button 5 times and get 5 HH's and that's all I see.

I can activate 4 times, look at option 5, and use my last reroll on it to get a 6'th option. All free.

I can use 5 rerolls and activate option number 6. Still free.

You get 5 possible activated HH's maximum any of those ways.

What people seem to be griping about is that HH6, which you re-rolled for bringing you down to 0 daily rr's is activateable when you have 0 rolls remaining. But if you are sitting on HH5 with 1 rr left and activate it, you get brought down to 0 rr's.

Either way you can only get 5 of them maximum so people are just lamenting not getting a 6'th option in some situations.

A solution could be changing the system again to just show 5 possibilities and let us activate one of them, don't know how difficult that would be vs what we currently have for the freebies.

Yup. It’s five maximum activated ones if you’re trying to activate all of them, but ideally you could get six options to sort through. Most of us don’t activate every single one, I don’t think - for me, it’s only expros, experfs, exshows, and RS that I’m usually interested in, and even then not all expros.

Just classifying this as a bug, not griping - I more than understand how busy Ammit gets dealing with everything that happens in an online community.

I’ve unfortunately had a hard time explaining it without screenshots, as I have problems (tech problems on my side of things) doing so, so that’s why I’ve been poking this thread so much. I’ve been trying to solve it on my side of things to figure out if there’s any sort of user error, but by this point I’m pretty certain it’s a very specific bug.

As for your solution, unfortunately I don’t think many people would like only being able to choose one, especially if two rolls you liked came up ;)

The fact that you can activate multiple ones is a bug itself, compared to the other bugs at release of the new system it wasn't game breaking so it was left as is.

It is acting how it has acted the entire time this system has been out. That's why this feels gripey to me. You are in effect asking for 6 active HH's instead of 5. They are supposed to be RE-rolls, ie you roll until you find one you like.

Short Version: this "bug" is just a side effect of a bigger bug that benefits us, a fix for it would likely take away our current buggy benefit.

Activate your first 4 HH's of the day, look at #5 and decide if it's worth a gamble to get what's behind door #6.

Really? I was under the impression that we were supposed to be able to get to activate as many as we wanted from our rerolls. Where did you see it saying we’re only supposed to get one?

If I recall correct, Ammit said it wasn't worth fixing when it came out a couple months ago. I would think it would be called a "roll" not a "reroll" if we were meant to just activate them all.

The major bug at release was that it wasn't charging -at all- for the rerolls after the free ones. She got that fixed then left the multi HH as is because it wasn't a major issue.

I think it was in the bug report area, which gets cleared out as things resolve unfortunately.

Thank you for finding something related to it, but in that comment she’s saying it’s not intuitive, but she’s not saying it’s not supposed to be that way.

If fighting with it crossed her mind, then that means it was unintentional.

"Fussy and unimportant" reads to me as a lot of code to fix a stable non-problem, that could create even more, worse bugs.
Especially after it's very rocky launch.

In the before times,iirc, you could only reroll until you activated one, there were no free rerolls, they were 10000 a piece instead of 5000, and the rank 4/5/6 were a lot more rare.

We also had to walk 10 miles uphill in the snow, and Ammit is hopefully going to be a little amused by us pouring over her old responses like biblical scholars.

See, the way I read her response:

The free ones
- Ones, plural. Multiple rolls

That is how it works
- Not broken. Working correctly.

Not intuitive
- Doesn’t make the most sense, could probably be set up in a way that wouldn’t feel as weird

Too fussy and unimportant for me to fight with it
- Could probably be set up in a way that wouldn’t feel as weird, but too much work for too little result.

Fight with it
- Fight with the code to make it more intuitive, not fight with the code to change anything bigger.

I’m not catching anything about us not supposed to be having the ability to activate multiples. Then again, we kinda are like scholars going off of too little information, lol. Perhaps we should wait for one of our game deities to speak to us directly =))
