What is a Gulastra Plume?
-
I have not seen one of these could someone please show me what this kind of horse looks like. Thank you
-
Gulastra plume on a bay based horse looks something like this:

It must be homozygous to show like this. Sometimes the plume can be very subtle.
The only time GP will show while heterozygous is on buckskins:

Notice the blond highlights in both the mane and the tail. -
Thank You beautiful

This was once my foundation stallion, and if you look, you will see he has a whitish end to his tail. This is what GP is. It only shows up on horses that have it homozygous and carry the agouti gene (A?).
It looks like the same you can get with the Splash gene, but it is different, and you can not test for it. -
It can be super subtle. This guy has GP but he barely shows the plume at all. My mare is the same, so I suspect most of my GP babies will have very little plume.

Gp plume size is actually random.

Cool! I'm only just starting with this line so I don't have any adults I've bred that are homozygous yet. I look forward to seeing a wide variety of plumes in my gen 3s!

Thank you everybody. I learn something new everyday. Thanks again
