That y'all don't much care for roans over here! I like me some shiney roan ponies, so I may have to start a line of roans that can't be beat, and show you ALL! :P :))
-
If anyone sees people making negative comments about roan or ANY color, please let me know. Color bashing has gotten out of hand here.
I've been down this road before on HJ1 and it only leads to nastiness. You don't have to want a color in your barn, you can even give constructive feedback on how a gene could be improved, but no one gets to make negative comments just to make them. If a comment does not add to the level of discussion it should be withheld.

Sorry. I just thought I noticed a gap that I am very happy to fill. I was attempting to verify something I thought I observed. I did not mean to start, or add to, any controversy.

I'm trying to add some strawberry roan drafties into my red satin line. I think satiny strawberry roans with lots of feathers will look awesome in a few generations!
-
I was KIND of thinking about making it tougher and shooting for a black chestnut with JUST the right amount of roaning. (I like enough that you can tell it's there, but not so much you can't see the original color on the body.) Haven't decided on that one yet!

Here's the palomino roan stallion that was my foundation boy on Shoco/WHG. Laura/Sunwolf did the picture for me.

I prefer dark roans (like most things), meaning, more dark hairs than white hairs in the mix. I really love the way their points and face are darker than the rest of them. I love this boy that came out of my DP pasture this year (he was gelded though).

Confluence Farms I was not admonishing your post. Some members have been pretty vocal about not liking roan ( as you picked up on) and it is starting to cause problems. This is an ongoing issue I am trying to combat, you noticed the existing bias is all. I can't read every single post and I really do need members to remind others it's not ok, or tell me so I can say as much. Color fads destabilize the game's economy and can ruin the value of people's horses so it's best to prevent them. HJ1 had problems with this in it's early life and it caused real issues.

Not to mention, the color I hated last week I fall in love with this week, and vice versa.
-
Yep, part of making sure everyone has a fair shake of doing what they want with their own barn is making sure a hive-mind isn't punishing people for not doing the same thing as everyone else. One innocent comment obviously doesn't cause an issue but 20 innocent comments saying the same thing and suddenly a market is getting blown out of wack.

I love roany ponies! I think nearly half my herd on here are roans :) I really like it when there's a big contrast between the base colour and the roaning. My absolute favourite colour combination is blue roan tobiano (I was lucky enough to own one in real life!)Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

I'm working on a little Roan Cob line. This was their first breeding season. It seems to be coming a long very nicely. I want little fat ponies so I went with cob. I was sad when this little boy didn't paper B.

I also have noticed a lot of people have vocalized that they prefer to avoid roans, as well as greys and high white factor whites. So you are not the only one who picked up on that Confluence.
Personally I love roans. My new draft mares are almost all roan, so I am excited to have more in my barns.
Every time we drive by a good looking roan horse out in a pasture somewhere I tell my husband we need to go buy it. Then again, I probably say that about almost every good looking horse we drive past... I have a problem.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

When I started playing on HaJ 1 about five years ago, I concentrated on roans because they went with my stable name, which is SandyCreek there, too. Gradually the colors and patterns in my stable became more and more diverse, so roans are just a part of what I collect (or should I say hoard?).
Since all of Ammit's great work on the appaloosas, I've even started being glad to have them onboard, too, though I had never been particularly eager to create them before.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
