Today I had to say goodbye to our first horse....we had her euthanized due to colic which caused her to collapse plus she got out of her paddok and wondered a half a mile from our home. We don't what caused the colic but we have theories that when she jumped the fence, it cuased her stomic to twist. She was a beautiful 20 yr old bay quarter horse/thoroughbred mare.

RIP Clementine I love you so much!

I'm so sorry! Colic is so devastating. We lost a ram to it when I was younger, he somehow got into the feed and gorged himself, and we have to deal with it quite a bit at the rescue I volunteer for. Sending hugs <3

Thank you for the hugs guys...It makes me feel better lying here in bed with some chill music and talking to people right now <3 and I know she'll be running them greener pastures..she was a fast runner.

I know what you're going through. Several years ago a young friend of mine lost a lovely young half-arab mare that she'd trained to jump herself to colic. I was part of the support group who helped during the final hours until the vet decided Red was beyond help and put her down. Colic is such a difficult ending for a horse. Sending lots of cyber-hugs your way, and my deepest sympathy. >:D<

Oh I feel your pain, I lost my Thoroughbred 6 years ago on May 7th to colic. She was the spitting image of your girl. Sending big hugs and healing thoughts your way.

Thank you all! I feel better now. <3 I'm gonna plant a beautiful tree right by her grave. I'm thinking of a lilac tree. And I'm gonna use one of her old shoes and a lock of her mane that I trimmed a while ago and make a memorial out of it.
