What do you breed for?
-
So I’m really struggling chosing something I want to breed for. I know I want to breed drafts because I breed warmbloods on haj1. So I’m curious what dose everyone else breed for and or you favorite gene combinations.
-
Currently im trying to breed snowflake/ KP drafts. (Its pretty challenging, considering i have no snflk or kp mares/stallions lol) my favorite gene combination is definately appaloosa with KitM/ and ice one; im so in love with that combination

Drafts.
Mainly liver appaloosas but I do have other colours.
I’m breeding kp and sf in my lines
Hoping to add some kit m, satin, and any other fancy genes in there too.
I also have thunderstruck. And a bootstrapping line which are whatever colours. They are bred for paper level and pt not for colour.Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
I breed for several different things so if I get bored with one program I can focus more on others. I love mixing all the rainbow riot genes, I also breed for livers, nexus, snowflake, appy, whtm, I love mixing the genes too!
-
i breed for DP in chestnuts and Bays
im also trying to bring Snowflake into my lines so far i have 3 snowflake, 2 unaltered. one of them i got from the auction for 2600hbs! i try and breed my horses to paper level and not generation eveness, i find i get a lot more BA passes that way :) -
I breed for alot of different things! DP, KitM, W3, W10, WaterColor, Brown, Nexus, Pearl, Small amount of Sables and Classics and Appaloosa's with all of the above lol. I do have a tiny bit of snowflake but its on such a small scale I end up selling them!DivineDreams ~ 30908
Breeder of KitM, W10, W3, Livers, Chocolates, Brown, S+, Pearl, Macchiato, Nexus, and WaterColor! -
I just counted mine up, and I have six different lines. Keepers are judged on quality, then color. I don't know if that is too many or not enough : )

3 Vainglory AKKNNWW r -
Every size and bone all mixed together.
Red based KP with DP and S+, focus on chocolate Palomino with S+ because of that gorgeous golden metallic tone they get to their dapples. Mix of various Kit patterns, especially Kit M and Sabino 2. Trying to breed out Splash.
Gulastra Plume with DP and rabicano. Primarily plain or wild bay. Looking for that rich blood bay on the wild bay and that deep mahogany brown on the plain bays with just the white tail tip and the rabicano ticking across their ribs. Occasional appy. Trying to breed out other white markings including W20.
Macchiato with a black base. Lots of patterns in this one—regular splash, W2, W8, appy, Frame. Silver and grullo and classic champagne as well as plain black. My favorites seem to mostly be plain black with blue eyes and the splash/frame interaction. Always hard to breed for Frame!
Watercolor/Plaid/Nacre combos, with patterns, especially appy and W2. S+ mixed in.
Axiom with Ice 2 and 10, with patterns, especially appy.
Ice 5 and 13, working on gray or grullo/black base.
DP silver bay/brown with W8, W3 and Frame. Looking for those almost coppery dapples on the dark silver bay/brown and some patterning as counterpoint. Trying to breed out other patterns and ee. If the chinchilla pattern Ammit teased on FB comes out, I will add it to this herd with Kit M.
And the Bootstrap line is aiming for Hom Nexus with Ice 1/8 and patterns but the main goal is PT over 13.0.
Aside from the Bootstrap line, I am a relatively traditional “even” breeder in gen 1-5. I’m breeding the very top colts I get to mares that pass SBA and culling mares further as I go with average foal PT to weed out my “mare lag” mares. As I start to get into generations with all Star/Gold breeding stock, I plan to start to Breed by AFPT instead of strictly by generation. However, I’m not anywhere close to getting there yet! -
I'm allll about the sables! My signature says what I breed for, I love them all! ..but I've been focusing on sables for a while now. They are by far my favorite combo to come up with.
My favorite studs:
CooliosCallipygousChrist
King Of Pearls SaCp 2g
EyeOfTheApple SiSaRDSBr2g
Dragons Sherry SaCpApBr2g
Favorite mares:
YoullBeAwesome SaCpRBr YL
Valtistadoora SaCpSRBr YL
Swirling Jog SaCpRoSbR 2g
As you can see, I'm a little obsessed..
I currently hold the only sable brindle ice 2 stallion in the game. I can't WAIT to see his babies next year.. :xBreeder of Quality Warmbloods and Show Horses
Lover of Brindles, Blacks, Buckskins, Blue Roan's, Bays, Grey's and SABLES! And addicted to Ice, Pearl and the color Purple.. :P

I breed sport ponies/small warmbloods. My absolute favorite gene is KitM, but some of my other favorite patterns are tobiano, rabicano, and frame. My favorite base colors include liver/chocolate palomino/grullo/buckskin. I keep a mix of mares in my favorite colors and try to match them with studs that have patterns I like.
My favorite horse I've ever bred, color wise:
KA Coming Up Sunshine
A beautiful stud I bought to bootstrap with starting next month:
Chance on Chocolate 5g
My pretty dappled tobi boy who will go to my frame foundation mares next month:
KA Double Entendre -
I breed for Grullos with white patterns. (Tobiano, rabicano, splash, sabino, w8, s+ etc.) I mainly just avoid roan and appy.
On each server I also have 2 special genes I focus on to go over the variety of white patterns.
HJ1 I have KP and Nexus lines
HJ2i have Ice and Satin -
I breed Night Mares. In all seriousness, if it's dark I'm digging it. I've caved in and allowed Drafts in my lines, and the occasional heavier Riding horse but I breed primarily for Warmbloods since I just prefer the look of them. I like flashy whites such as Sabino and Kit m.
V Bird Poop
IV Too Hot To BOP
IV Hurting My Heart
I also breed for minimal Tobiano;
XI Cedar Chrome
I have a lot of grey in my lines since Grey is just an awesome colour;
z Show Boost 53
And also somehow fell into snowflakes over a year ago??
III Beat The Wolf

I mainly breed warmbloods and Sport Ponies. I have a few riding horses and drafts though, through breeding my warmbloods. They used get snipped and used for showing. But, now I alter them to warmbloods if I like their color or markings. They rest get snipped and used as show horses still.
I breed mostly for GP. I have been for almost as long as I have been in HJ2. (Since Oct. 2013) I love the het Browns, that deep dark seal color is just my absolute favorite. And right behind that any Buckskin, the darker the better. Get a lot of Perlino and Creamello because of the Buckskin, and you can't see the GP in them. But, they do make the GP Club. I have been experimenting to see what colors I can get beside, bay, brown and buckskin that show the GP. I have some Champagnes, and just got my first gray that are in the GP Club. I also started an uneven, (kind of Bootstrapping line. Started from the 6th gen to 8th gen, so not sure if it is true Bootstrapping) with my GP's. It took a while, but I just got my first two over 13 PT. So excited about that.
I dabble in KP. I finally created some Ex Perf Breeding Boosted foundations, since my KP's were all older gens from other people's lines. Then I got some straws for Secret Santa from Cheers Blueberry KP lines, they were great so I bought some more KP horses from her. They were second gens. So I got to creating my own foundations.
I have a fairly new Bootstrap line going outside of my GP lines. I am still working on 2nd and 3rd gens. I got a couple of *Star and *Gold papered foals from some of Dark Stars stallions. Thanks DS! And have been breeding them to my *Star stallions and *Gold mares. Some of the Bootstraps that the PT's are moving more quickly are breeding the *Gold mares to my foundation stallions. Trying it a little backwards as an experiment. Not working on color in my Bootstrap lines yet. Concentrating more on PT's jumping up quicker for some nice high PT show horses. -

I love drafts! Right now I'm breeding:
Big black drafts
Bee Student G2R
Brown appaloosas (especially sooty het brown)
Yes Gallie Bob G2 Br
And I just started dabbling in Axiom
Dream of Jamie
I also breed warmblood champagnes
Bottle in the Waves CHG2R
And riding horse silver bay
Runaway Laugh G2B (I can't wait to start using this gen 2 stud next season!)
I also have a warmblood Nacre stud who I've paired up with all different weights and colors. So as you can see... I'm not great at making decisions either. :D -
I have three lines... which is a lot I think but must have all the pretties! I spent my first few months on here building my show herd and trying to figure out what direction I wanted to go, so my color lines aren't even really off the ground yet. My primary goals are base color and quality, and then other patterns find their way in to mix it up a bit.
My primary line is hom sooty wild bay, to which I hope to add gulastra plume in the near future:
prl Godiva 1Y
I'm toying with a pearl line on the side, to which I hope to add ice:
prl Iris 2R
And my bootstrap line is pearl with satin (of course the first pearl satin foal I got was a colt, so got snipped and sent to the show barn):

I’ve also got two new foundation Stallions with SpM that I can’t wait to use...

I also really like the Milestone genes...

I'm a relative newcomer compared to many, but I think I've settled on a few main breeding goals. (I'm not even going to touch on the side projects.)
1. Liver Chestnuts, especially with Appy markings. Because they're pretty.
2. Snowflakes. (This will take months and a lot of luck since they're almost all foals and most that I have are het.)
3. Building an Era 5 line from Foundation to Star/Gold if I can. I'm trying this with both warmbloods and cobs.
And to finance all this, I'm building up my show horse population, bootstrapping them as I go.Thanked by 1kintara -
My main goal is drafts - all colors, toss in a few shiny/flashy genes, but the main goal with them is to get super high papering and PT. There's a serious lack of star draft studs around here!
As for a few side goals:
Black liver drafts, some with flaxen some without (I love the solid black and black dapplings, but I also like the fiery red flaxen manes).
All bones of w8, though primarily drafts, and on medium dark colors, so bays and duns, etc.
Akhal-tekes - aka riding horses with pearl and champagne and probably satin too. Tall, red based, minimal white factor as I'm going for solid colors there.
Snowflake - okay, this one isn't even solidly grounded yet, but I do want snowflakes eventually and I've collected a few so far.
Silver Pocket Watch - not technically a "line", per se, but I do love my collection. And hey, they breed true, so the kids look like the parents, even if they don't have the herd helper tattoo. Look at this cutie.
SPW Hooded DaylightISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time. -
@Lallyhop I have this guy who is almost a star stud I could put up for live covers as I have used him for the season.
GB Starry King ETSXX4Thanked by 1EdgyEmu -
@AshaRainwillow So pretty! For me, my mares are all bred this year, and next year I've got a star of my own aging up, but I'm sure someone else would very much appreciate such a cool draft!
I Want Stars
This lil guy of mine is gonna hold me until I can swap to fully homebred. I might actually take you up on the offer to breed to King next year, though, if I end up starting a nexus line like Cheers has been tempting me into, lol.ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,

And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time. -
My main goal is height! I am breeding my horses to look like Thoroughbreds. 15.3 and higher is the ticket, and 15.3 is only if they have something truly special about them.
As for color projects. Colors are representative of the variety of Thoroughbred colors that have been documented. Just not many bays.. bays can get boring, and of course as much Sooty goodness as possible :)!
True Blacks
A Royal Presence
Jokers Wilde
Ink Well
Silver Bays
LiveYourLifeinLove
Olive Oil
Silver Blacks
Bearer of Bad News
Chipped Slate
Champagne (It can be Gold, Amber or any) This I want to have minimal white.
Ms Islander
Coastal Breeze
Pale Prince
Then at some point I would love to get a special line of Perlinos and Palaminos (super rare in TBs but they are out there)
Palamino
Bad News Bear F
Perlino
Ocala Me Beautiful
I am hoping to introduce splash down the line, but for now I want to focus on the basics... I may even start a Chestnut line but I am unsure as of the moment. :)

I have way to many passions :D I have an At/A+ line, a DP line, a KP line, a GP line, a satin line (mostly incorporated into my GP line now) and a snowflake line. And entwined in these I have all kinds of fun. Ice1-2-5-8-9-10-13-14, Nexus, Axiom, all the RR genes and pearl. And probably something more I can not remember :P
-
I spent a long time just creating all the different colours with herd helpers and breeding them and keeping ones I thought were pretty or different or were best in pasture. The only thing I did like lines was separating exceptional and non exceptional producing lines.
Now I've got a riding horse dark silver bay GP line that I am also trying to make the colour name as long as possible.
I've also just started a draft liver kp snowflake line that I might try to get kit m into as well.
And I'm bootstrapping for show ponies and satin, sooty+ and kit m in any size -
Bleh I have too much going on. Lol.
I personally stick with drafts. The taller and heavier, the better.
I have my three clans. I high recommend clan breeding if you really don't know what color combos you favor yet. Haltanny got me into it and I must say I'm getting some lovely results. The thread for it is here: Clan Mating
I have three color herds: Wild Bay, Liver, and Gray. I currently trying to get my misc horses under control enough to possibly get Sabino 1, White 1, Silver Black, Pearl, Snowflake and Sooty Blue Roan herds going. I doubt I'll get all that going though. I'm already bringing in more horses a season than I have room for and my stable isn't accumulating IVs fast enough to buy barn space. I'm currently taking a season off (Possibly 2) to deal with that.
I think I might actually get on the bootstrapping bandwagon soon.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
Striving to become a quality Draft breeder. -
I primarily breed for silvers with Kp, mostly they will have tobiano or a sabino. However I don't like to limit myself so with those patterned silvers is just about everything else haha!! I did include DP in my herds too, but the chestnuts still usually carry silver and Kp. At the moment I especially love the silver bays with DP!
Oh and mostly I try and breed under 14hh, I used to have more ponies, but have more cobs now
