Genetic modify horses

How do you know what genes to gm? Like can u do for an ice or nexus? Or only at special times? Can u make one a appy or paint? I know where to go to do it but how easy is it. Thqnks!
-
Once you get a grasp on what it is you want and genetically how to get it it becomes pretty easy. Nexus and ice you can't do any more. I know Ice has several versions. You could only GMT them when Ammit did the original sale. Now the only way to get them is to find a horse who has it. The original Ice gene is pretty easy to find the others I'm not sure on. I think you might have a tougher time with those. Nexus you can not get any more either and its very hard to find a horses for sale or even up for breeding who has it. Paint and Appaloosa are easier. It will also depend on what kind of paint and appaloosa your looking for. If your looking for a leo app you want the PATN1 gene. A horse who genetically looks something like this:

Now technically the game doesn't have a "paint" gene. So your going to have to figure out what kind of look you want. There is Tobiano, several forms of splash and several forms of Sabino, all will give you a horse who would qualify as a "paint". Do a horse search on the different patterns to see which one best fits what your looking for. Some of them can be pretty expensive to GMT but people do it. -
Just letting you know we ask our players to use full words isntead of chat speak. You instead of u. It makes things easier to read for everyone :)

You will have to color test the horse you want to GMT, and it will have to be no more than 4 years old and have no living foals on record. Many genes take more than one token to put on, the rarer ones take a lot of them. However, if you have bred a foal that passes its testing but has missed an important gene from one of its parents, you can color test it and apply the missing gene for 1GMT, regardless, so long as it is available in the lab.De gustibus non disputandum. Are you sure you mean hb in that last sentence? :OThanked by 1SandycreekFarm

Yes, definitely. You can't give a lined foal a gene that at least one of its parent's doesn't have, but if the foal has missed that gene, it costs 1 GMT to add it. I just double checked it for you, although I have done this more than once. I have a 3rd gen mare whose sire has Llp, though she doesn't. Llp costs 2 hbs to add to a foundation horse. The message I got when I clicked on the L allele from the sire reads "Your horse has the L allele for this appaloosa gene." The button to select the addition says, "Change L to Llp for 1 token."De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Sigh. You are right RoseFlute, and Kaquel. I'm very, very tired this weekend, having been extraordinarily busy with church things during the end of Holy Week, and my brain was seriously not working. I will go back and make the correction. Thank you very much for keeping an eye on me.
It's really bad when even when I was typing in exactly what was written on the page, the error didn't smack me over the head.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
