It's the week that ends with the Kentucky Derby! Has anyone else picked out some favourites yet? I figure Mendelssohn, Justify, and Audible might have some good chances. I just went through and looked at wins of longer races.

Justify and Good Magic are my favorites I think. And for a longshot I like Promises Fulfilled, just because his dad Shackleford is my favorite racehorse.

I'm really gunning for My Boy Jack only because he has Storm Cat and Seattle Slew. If he doesn't make it as a stud, the eventing world would love him as Storm Cats are fabulous eventers. Bolt d'Oro, I really love Medaglia d'Oro he is such a beautiful horse. Plus bolt has two triple crowns in his line. :)>-

Mendelssohn and Audible are my leanings... with Justify for the trifecta

It's all about Mendelssohn. Very impressive in Europe, Dubai, and the US. His dad is the very very hot Scat Daddy. More importantly, his sister is the three time US champion Beholder. He's owned by Coolmore, who have great horses up the wazoo, and is trained by Aidan O'Brien, the god of racing. Ryan Moore, possibly the best jockey in the world, chose to skip the 2000 Guineas in England this weekend to ride Mendelssohn over here. Basically Mendelssohn is the best and I won't hear anything else.

I haven’t followed the prep races very good this year. Been watching too much show jumping instead. I will be DVRing the race to watch later though.

I haven't picked a favorite, but I usually watch the Triple Crown races every year.

However, last weekend I got to see three of the events from the Longines Masters show jumping classes from New York City. Now there was a great event for dedicated Hunt and Jump players. :D

I was so ready to cheer for Gronkowski....hate he’s sidelined with an injury.

I think Noble Indy is my pick with Bolt D’Oro also in the mix.

I like Good Magic, but I always pick a long shot too, in this case Lone Sailor.

I actually like Mendelssohn or Vino Rosso. But derby day is also my annual night to pop in a DVD and watch Secretariat. Watched him win the triple Crown. He has been my hero since.
