All horses will be at least heterozygous(LlpL) for the appaloosa gene, but might also be homozygous (LlpLlp). All base colors are possible. Horses might also have other patterns.

Ah well, had the same thing happen to another Draft Appy stud. Especially the ones that have what I call "edged" markings. Having the dark face and legs, but spotted body. I picked him up to add him to my show horses.
Here was the other stud that got gelded, in case you were curious.
