In House and rare lines Colors!
-
I really like to see some of the rare or in house line going on. How do you get the rare lines? Why are some only in house? Thank
-
Most people choose to keep a line "in house" when they want to maintain its rarity and (hopefully) value. For me, whenever I spend a good amount of RL money GMTing a horse, I normally keep the line in house. "In house" also means different things to different players or in different situations. For example, there are certain players who I will share some of my prized lines with on the condition that they keep the line in house. What that means is that they agree not to sell that horse or its straws/eggs/foals to anyone. If you're ever confused about how someone is using the term, it's a good idea to ask. Most players on HJ2 are very nice and will be happy to answer!
Now on to the bragging =P I have a few in house lines.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=208212
This stud has S+ (dapple like shading) and one copy of GP (makes a gray tail when homozygous, with only one copy makes buckskins have highlights in mane and tail). He was expensive, so I keep him and his descendants in house. I have shared straws on occasion to trusted friends. You'll notice he has a lot of foals, but only a small fraction of them are intact. By keeping him in house, I hope to keep the number of intact foals down so that the line stays desirable and high quality.
The newest colt from his line is this boy:

I'm very happy with him :)
I also keep these boys and their descendants in house:

Gwynbleidd is homozygous GP.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=233243
Breve has 1 copy of DP (makes SstySsty horses darker) and 1 copy of S+. -
I just started a few lines that will be kept in house.
WO1 Shrapnel App
https://s3.amazonaws.com/kinetocore_hj2/horses/387750/387750.jpg?=6982
This boy has the new Snowflake Appaloosa gene. I'll be breeding him next season. He currently doesn't have any descendants.
WO1 Going Prodigious
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=382073
This boy, as far as I know, Is the only Draft Homo DP stallion on the server. He also carries homo sty which gives him those very distinct dapples.
WO1Walloping Inferno
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=382071
I had started a line a few season back called my Copper Flame line. It's nothing more then a very distinct color of bay. I wanted to add something to the line to dress it up a little without loosing sight of the eye popping color I want. GP was what I ended up deciding on. This guy is Homo GP, though for some reason GP doesn't play nice with bay so he doesn't have a plum and he's homo A+, which is the wild gene that gets rid of the black socks you see on many bays.
Icy Star Nex2
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=320141
This is my Nexus boy I was lucky to get my hands on. He blessed me this year with two het nexus leo app foals. -
These are a few of my in house only horses. I will and have sold or given away a lot of these kids but with very strict conditions on their use for breeding and sale.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=299595
Starry Knights is homozygous for Nexus, which produces the starry patterns on his coat. He is a smoky black underneath those stars, but on bays and chestnuts the homozygous Nexus colors can be blues and purples and amazing.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=324786
New Fallen Snow is homozygous for Ice 8. Different versions of Ice come up for sale at Christmas time and this was the 2015/2016 version.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=382575
Beorn the Bold is homozygous DP brown with Sabino 3. Sabino 1 is a gene that occurs naturally in the game quite rarely, but you have to buy Sabino 3 in the GMT lab. Beorn is not In House Only for me, just wanted to throw him up since Fj threw up some of her drafts!
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=371264
Wolfgang Amadeus is my snowflake stallion. He is a classic champagne and also has sooty+. -
This is my very favorite mare, she is selected breeding only. For me that means I have only sold 2 eggs from her to Abbey Road. Bred to one of Abbey's stallion's, she has produced 2 GP carrier foals, a colt and a filly. Those bred together or to other GP horses, have produced several GP foals.
1 Antique Carousel:

Most people choose to keep a line "in house" when they want to maintain its rarity and (hopefully) value.
In house means only in house. As soon as you sell even a single straw/foal etc it's no longer in house. Never sell breedings or foals from horses if you care if they have thousands of decedents. Once a line is in the hand of another breeder that's it you have no control anymore, nor should you expect to have any control/rights over the sold horses or their descendants.

As I said, in house is used in many different ways by different people (which is why it's so important to ask what the other person means). I don't know of a single person on HJ2 that has an in house line by the literal definition.
Obviously the admins are not going to help you if someone buys your horse and doesn't keep your line in house. Your only real power in that situation is to not sell to them again. However, most of the player base on HJ2 is kind and trustworthy. I don't see a problem with an agreement between friends.Thanked by 1Holyoke Stables -
Wow. Everything was just stunning. I get what in house is. I'm hoping soon to have GP line of my own. I loved that starry look.

GP? The stars are from the Nexus gene. :) GP stands for Gulastra Plume, which should give bays a white-ended tail. :)
