What are your breeding goals? Are you looking to breed a particular colour, advancing quality, high PT scores or something else?
Personally I find that having a clear direction to go makes breeding, snipping and culling much easier. I breed Grullos with patterns while improving quality although I don’t have many breeding horses so I do not cull overly hard on AFPT.
First I run everything through SBA and let that snip the inferior foals,
Next performance testing, I’ve had the long habit of snipping inconsistent foals held over from back when we had to figure out when the best time to show a horse.
Then I run genetic testing and snip all non grullos. Tho sometimes I’ll add a GMT tag to the name to review at a later date.
Next I paper everyone (papering last saves me 1000hbs if they’re spayed before)
Lastly I comparison test all colts against their sires. If I still have an influx of colts I compare brothers first, snipping lower paper levels then comparison testing.
If I still have too many I go through each generation and snip the lower paper levels and then the plainer horses that don’t have many patterns to pass on
