I love working on HAJ, but the reality is I am just one person and running a business takes a huge amount of time. I simply don't have time to run all the clerical/marketing and coding parts. So I am bringing in an awesome team that is going to work on a bunch of user interface updates for the site. Very first things are the search, barn page, and horse pages. I would love to hear what you guys would like to see done with those page.

That sounds very promising. I only use the mobile site so is it still feasible for me to make suggestions or will the updates mainly be for website users? Either way, I'll mention the things that I've noticed.
With the barn page, I would like the option to be able to go back into a particular barn once you've marked a horse for sale or something. At the moment I can select a horse from my 'selling' barn, put it in auction or get breeding advice etc, but then when I want to go back and select another horse from my 'selling' barn, I have to first select the barns tab which sends me to 'primary barn' before I can enter the selling barn again.
Perhaps on the horse page if we had the option to scroll to the next or previous horse, this would save the hassle of having to re-enter the barn page each time. Just because the back button isn't always an option if you've just done an action that you don't want to undo, such as entering a show or typing a sale price.

They will be doing work for mobile accessibility as well.

On your horse page there is a link called "Location" click that it it will take you back to the barn you where just in.

In the search it would be nice to have a button that says Light,medium, or heavy in addition to exact bone weight that would select a range. That way it could be done more quickly for ppl who are just looking for body type and aren't that picky about the exact weight. Also it would be nice in the kit mutations list to have a single checkbox that would eliminate all kit genes in addition to the individual ones. Sometimes I just want a horse with no kit genes and while I can stop and check "must not have" for every variation it would be nice to be able just click one if I'm trying to eliminate all of them.

Thanks that's helpful to know. I'd still be interested in a previous/next horse option for ease of selling etc but I understand if that wouldn't be possible to program.

We all know there are some bugs with the search feature so I won't go there, but I would like to see the ability to search:

by Horse ID #.
sort by age
by ECA3P
by bone Light/Medium/Heavy in addition to the numeric values
"non of the above" option for bay, kit, ice, etc.
an easier way to search for horses who are homozygous for any particular gene (this is probably part and parcel of my "none of the above" suggestion)

I think it would be nice to have a check box under owner ID that says owned by me or something to that affect so that I am not constantly typing in my own ID every time I want to search my own horses.

I've been thinking for a while that it would be lovely to be able to search by rank hh tattoos. If I want to look up all rank special, or all expro, exshow, and experf together, etc, being able to checkmark "rank 1" "rank 3" "rank 6" etc would be awesome.

In addition (this isn't as related and might be a bit harder to program) being able to have a link or mouseover on tattoos on the horse's page would be wonderful. For owner tattoos the mouseover would just read the name of the tattoo, but for herd helper tattoos it would read off the description of the herd helper. It would save time instead of having to go back and check the master post in the forum when I want to know what genes come from the nanotech primer/blackout/wet n wild etc vs which genes were luck of the draw.

I would love to be able to switch between horses in the barn without having to go back to the list... like each horse page has a “next” and “previous” button or arrows

i would like some sort of testing to compare a filly to their mother or something along those lines so that i know if, with my mares, they are getting better in quality :)

@HunterUnderSaddleGirl I see it now that you point it out! Let's maybe change that request to "make it more obvious where that arrow is", lol. I always thought that little arrow was just part of the barn link.

I would like to request for the "enter the barn" button to be moved back to the top - having to scroll through numerous 120- and 210- stall barns twice every week is tedious. :)

When bidding on horses in auction it would be nice to not be sent away from the horse's page when you enter a bid. Also, maybe a check box on the page that adds it to the watch list, or even adds it automatically when you make a bid.

I second (or third?) the "must not have/exclude all" by sections option on the Search page, so that you could exclude all Kit genes or all Agouti with one click instead of having to touch every dropdown.

It might also be nice to have a note at the top of that page explaining how to search for heterozygous vs. homozygous. (If you know how databases work it's not hard to figure out but if you aren't used to thinking like a computer it can be confusing.)

"Belongs to me" could be a check box in the Status section. That way you would still have the owner ID box for finding horses that belong to other players.

I would like to see an "All horses in pasture" option. Going to each mares individual page can be wearisome! Then I could search for all my pasture horses with 5th Gen tattoos, or by color, etc!

One thing I was going to as was if you can have little buttons for price range.
Ex. •<2500 •2500-10,000 •10,000-25,000 •25,000-50,000 •50,000-100,000 •100,000+

I have a similar want to Confluence. However, instead of "All horses in pasture" as a search feature, I want to exclude them all! I quite often use the horse search to pick out horses that I want to breed and, since breeding opens up before pastures and I have a terrible memory, I quite often end up choosing a mare only to see that she's in pasture and therefore can't hand breed her.

Is there a way that it can be noted that a horse is STS/AGA/WTS when we do the testing? Similar to the breeding inspection - it gets listed on the page. I think it would be helpful if that does too.

That would be extremely helpful, if there was a notation made automatically when comp testing is done and what the results were. Helps those of us that are a tad forgetful.

stacey, We can, in fact, do that (it's just not at all obvious): when searching, leave the Pasture ID field blank but select the Not Like tick underneath it. This will exclude all pasture horses from the search. (This tip has been a real lifesaver for me.) This exclusion method could be made more transparent, though, I agree. Maybe a mini-guide on how to use the search for specific purposes? -Zenith

Plus I can sometimes comp test to half a dozen horses trying to work out exactly who better, would drive me nuts to have all, or even just the last one listed as it has no relevance except to me. If I want to save I just put in notes

Perhaps a compromise of sorts for the comparison testing? Maybe not having them all listed on the main page like it does for color, PT, ect but instead have them listed on the control panel page or even a separate page so just the owner could see it. You could take it a step further and put check boxes next to them that would allow for it to either be deleted or, if you wanted, publicly displayed on the main page.

I do like the idea of having the comp results listed somewhere just not sure that they all need to be public.

I think an option on the search for "Only like this" would be helpful. Right now if you are searching for Grullo, it brings up Smoky Grullo, Grullo Tobiano, etc.

That "only like this" for color would really help me too. For example, I was trying to look at plain bays to see the various shades that sooty and DP can put on them, and it was extremely difficult because most of the horses that showed up had white or dilutions.

How about PT as a max/min? Like I want to see all my horses with a PT below 9.9, or between 10 and 10.5 or whatever.

Id love to have a a button to do a bulk snip/spay.
When horses dont meet my breeding guidelines its tome consuming going to every individual page to snip them.

Also we have an option as an upgraded player to enter whole barns in auction. Any chance of getting the option to add whole barns of mares or studs up for public breeding with the last recorded price?

On the barn page, where you can click the little boxes to select a horse, could it work where you click one box, then control + click the last box and select all the horses in between? So if I wanted to select all the geldings in the barn I wouldn't have to click them individually.

I'd really love it if you could move the "Enter This Barn" back to the top of the page. With my crappy internet, and having some big stables it can be a little bit of a pain waiting for the page to load to quickly chuck horses into shows.

Could you also fix the location on horses in pasture? I find that if I click on them I always get put on a landing page like this;

All my pastures are full so this threw me for a bit.

Searching for deceased horses, would it possible for them to searched for by last owner ID as well as also being in the archive? I know you can search bred by, or by name but sometimes I forget the name, or didn't originally breed the horse.

And for the barn page, could we have the opportunity to set a default to how we'd like to see our horses grouped? Maybe somewhere in user settings we can have an opportunity to always see the barn by age, gender, etc. I understand you have the sort by button for quick sorting, but again my crappy internet hates the bigger barns.

It would be nice for the bidding page to have the have only the bids and not all the other information that is not needed on the top and bottom. Just the bidding section.
Also have some way that we can mark horse pages we want to save for future reference.
Lastly have a way to cancel bidding if we accidentally bid on the wrong horse or change our minds.
Be allowed to breed one pasture at a time instead of all at once.

@wendolyne, you can breed just one pasture if you only have a stallion in that pasture and not the other. There's no fence-jumping on HaJ2.

Possibly a small notation by or with the PT section of the barn page of I or C so we automatically know whether a horse is consistent or not. So instead of reading 10.90 it would be 10.90C or 10.90I. It would make culling for consistency easier. And might help out in breeding as well.

I would love to be able to search by generation of the horse as well. Sometimes I am searching for a specific generation if horse. Not sure if that is possible?

Generation would be tough to search. Where would you put mixed gens, or all those bootstrapping horses? That's why tattoos are SO nice!

Yes they are, but I meant for when you're looking to buy a horse.

But I understand how difficult it would be for the mixed gens and bootstrapping. I just didn't know if it would be possible for the horses that have been evenly bred. It would be nice to be able to find when trying to buy a horse.
