So, Another DP Question
-
I’m thinking at least het DP, but it’s hard to tell because of her varnish spots. She has no sooty at all, but is very dark for no sooty. I’ve compared her to my Sooty flaxen chestnut creates, and I’m on the fence. Anyone want to chime in on their thoughts, hom or het DP?
This is the mare in question

I personally think she look to have het DP.
-
She's definitely at least het, since she has no sooty, but the varnish makes it hard to guess het or hom. I'm going to tentatively guess hom. But I'd breed to a black liver and see what pops up. If she produces regular chestnut from a black liver, then she's het.#28036

I didn’t even think of that @Haltanny. I just used a straw from my stud I have, and it’s a chestnut. Must only be het.

At least het. Possibly hom.DivineDreams ~ 30908

She produced a chestnut with a black liver, so she is only het dp with no other darkening genes. Good that you got it on your first try though, since it would've been a coin toss essentially as to whether she passed her dp on or not!Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
