GMT Advice
-
Next season my new watercolor boy will be able to breed so I would like to spend one final GMT on him.... I would just like to decide what I would like to do with him.

Current ideas are
Silver
Dun
Lp
I know that silver and dun have a tendency to look really good with watercolor, just not sure which one is better. And my other RH foundation is het. for silver, dun, and roan so I could in theory breed it in at a later point.... but it would be nice if it was there from the get go. Appaloosa however I have relatively little of, and it would be nice if all of his foals were appaloosa, but I like having variety. And since he's only het. watercolor I would like to make sure the foals that didn’t inherit watercolor still look good.
If he was your horse what would you do? (Don't have to stick to my 3 ideas, as I've seen some really cool watercolors out there) (No GMT's at all is an acceptable idea as there is one mare that I bought that I would like to put w8 on as she missed it from her parent and I don't have much w8. Or I could take suggestions on the new nacre foal I just bought. Or theres a stallion I really wish was a mare)

If he was my horse, I'd throw a bit more sooty onto him! I remember hearing that sooty tends to make the spots bigger on an Appy, which I absolutely love. So therefore if his offspring gets Appy but not watercolour, hopefully they'll get big beautiful spots as well.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

Ooh, that's a good idea. And his foals would cross more easily with the liver line.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I don't own the gene, but I love s+ on watercolors!ID# 43830

Yes, I would definitely vote sooty or even S+ if you can afford it.
Hom Lp would be great for his foals but it would turn him mostly white and eliminate his gorgeous pink spots...I would have a hard time justifying that change myself. -
Oh, I haven't noticed the S+ but I'll have to look. I think its more than just one GMT though.
Yea, I really like his leopard spots.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses. -

Oh eek. I think I might just consider Ssty then.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

If you like the idea of S+, my foundations are het for it and it’s in my herd. I’d be happy to trade straws or sell you foals. My herd is bay/brown based with some silver.

Yes please @Cheers! I like that idea a lot! The more I think about the more I think I will save my GMT for a rainy day. The dun, and the silver I can breed in. Have plenty of Ssty Ssty horses to cross with DP lines.
He's gorgeous! How do you know it was going to look that good before you put it on?Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses. -
This is my sooty plus watercolour horse too, definitely worth breeding S+ into your WC line if you can!

@Kintara He's gorgeous! I also love the KP. I bet he would cross well with my KP gal. How much do you charge for straws?Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
