With the create spree from the herd helper and new player changes at full tilt and pastures opening for some of us tomorrow, I imagine a lot of people are a bit short on barn space. I will be giving away prizes in the amount of 500k, which is enough to buy 40 IVs, which is enough to buy a 120 stall barn if you are still buying barns at the base rate.

Rules:
1). This contest is open to all players, regardless of age of account. If your account is too young to receive hbs from another player, we will work the prize give away as a horse sale.

2). You MUST use your winnings to buy a barn. If you already have enough stall space that 40 IVs won’t buy you a 120 stall barn, you still must invest in the largest barn you can for that amount of IVs. This is not a cash infusion for your account.

3). I will be giving away at least 10 prizes in the amount of 500,000hbs each. Any one player (not account, not household) may win only one prize. If you have multiple players in one household, all individual players may enter. However, if you as a single player have more than one account, only one account may enter.

4). Judging will be solely at my discretion.

5). Failure to submit entries correctly will render your entry invalid.

Favorite real life horse: My boy Zip. He was my first horse, I rescued him from a neglect situation. He was 300lbs underweight and so lame he couldn't be ridden. Now I can ride him bareback and bridleless in open fields. We love him so much he's appeared in family pictures. When he sees me come with a halter he gallops over even though he has arthritis. He's a one-in-a-million!

If so, this one every time. I messaged RoseFlute about her and bought her. Sooty+ has always been and probably always will be my favourite gene but I never thought i would ever have a lot of it. Since getting her, being hom, I now have lots of it. It was very sad when she passed because she became very special to me :'(

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): Traveller (Robert E. Lee's horse) because like all war horses (other animals too), he showed great bravery and loyalty under extreme duress. He was every bit the soldier any human was and bore General Lee through many civil war battles. Many horses died, but Traveller lived on to be famous. People even pulled out the hairs in his tail for a souvenir. He outlived his rider by two months and was shot when he contracted un-treatable tetanus.

I like this horse because it looks like something out of a science fiction and according to its user page, I'd say that's the intent. Not only does it have patterns that resemble cybernetic enhancement, it is very colorful and makes me think of space. It's also hom. nexus which is a line I am hope to start.

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): my gelding MSU Intense, he was my heart horse. He was a very difficult horse, lived up to his name of Intense. I was the only one who could jump him without a whip, I showed him through second level dressage, schooling third level...then life interfered and I broke my ankle, moved to OKC for a job and then lost him to colic before I was able to come back home to Mich.

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): My recently passed Chewy. We lost her very unexpectedly to an aneurysm in November. She was the first horse I had ever evented. She took me in the 3'6 hunters and showed me that it's ok to be afraid, but it's not ok to let the fear control you. I miss being able to go into her stall at a show or out in the middle of the pasture and taking naps with her when the stress just got to be too much. She lived to please and jumping was the only thing she loved more than food. She would always jump the fences in the cross country field and we always dropped rails in the grass ring otherwise she would jump those into she could jump no more. I could ride her tackless and she taught many beginners how to jump. She would carry my husband on trails and loved leaning her head on him and falling asleep any time he stood next to her. She was family, she still is. We lost her in November and my soul is still a bit raw. I collected hair to get memorial jewelry made, but every time I go to mail it I can't will myself to let it go.

Favorite game horse you own and why (include link): Ah, Pleece. The little mare that nearly made me cry when I ran her performance inspection. She was one of the first 5 horses I made in game and I couldn't believe a score like that were possible! I loved my redheaded mare and I just couldn't part with her. Now I have flashier horses and don't even actively breed redheads, but Pleece is still my favorite because of the journey I went through to find out that, yes, I did have one of the worst horses in game! I learned to use the Search because of her!

My Lady, the first horse I helped train with my riding instructor. She taught me patience, and that not everyone learns the same way. What I had seen work in the past, Lady just shrugged off and said “nah”. She taught me training isn’t all hard work, it can be and should be fun. She was the goof of the barn, you could always find her swiping someone’s hat or making a weird face.

I know he was listed before, but I’ll list him again. I agonized for 2 weeks, searching for a colt or grandcolt of his after realizing his owner had been inactive for over a month. While searching for a gene I liked to integrate into my liver/chocolate line I found Freaky Dreamer, and I was immediately in love. The way the pearl lightened the darkness of the sooty and DP, and the Kitm and splash 2 markings gave that perfect jigsaw puzzle look. Finally, I found a couple of his offspring, and can’t wait to breed my own this season.

This is such a great idea for a contest, and appreciate all the help and support you give everyone.

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): My favorite real life horse is a horse named Vogue at the barn I visit sometimes. She's a 13 year old, sorrel, 16hh quarter horse. Vogue has been used as a broodmare since retiring from racing at age 3. She is such a gentle soul and when you scratch her neck she will completely lean into you and just soak it all in. I 110% trust this horse. I would sit blindfolded underneath her, that is how much I trust her. Out of all the horses I work with (over 50) she is the only one I would do this with. I really hope to buy her once she is retired from breeding (perhaps 10 years down the road). You can find photos from her racing days by googling, "Honey Check Me Out horse" That's her registered name, racing photo should be the 4th one I think.

Miss Opaque Player I know she isn't the most perfect or highest broodmare out of the ones I have. But I love the Dense Player line, and Miss Opaque Player has given me some very nice foals. In the beginning her frame was difficult to work with since I was still new and she was my first frame horse, but I have learned a lot since then. She is sadly very close to aging out and I am trying to get as many foals from her as I can.

KC PoA M 5 3306 I am ususally not a fan of sport horses, as I breed warmbloods and I like tallies, but in real life I am obsessed with blue roans, and I just LOVE how the blue roan and appy in this mare compliment one another. My first pony was a Welsh Mountain fellow named Red. He was crafty and ornery as heck but never mean, and taught me so much about riding and barn life. Bought off the slaughter truck for $80 he ended up being a champion jumper and his owner kept him through retirement until he was humanely euthanized at 26 years of age. What more can you ask for? :)

Probably historic by now, as this was like 15 years ago. More of a favorite horse story. Sorry-not-sorry for the novella. To be totally honest I'm not a horse-person, I'd be just peachy effectively running a puppy mill at RallyandTrack.com, the Ammit-bred-dogs-instead alternate universe version of this game. So I don't really think about real horses enough to have a favorite that doesn't sound contrived.

My parents made a point of taking me trail-riding at least once a summer when we were visiting family in Maine, we camped at Poland Springs. Names are guesses based on googling the area and picking the one that sounded familiar. We had a couple places we frequented.
1)Near Sebago (carousel?)- I usually "rode" an appy nicknamed "Oreo" there but the trail was more like a path and the horses were on autopilot.
2) Near Greene (moody?)- Much more trail variety/more nature/less scripted, last time I went there though the jerk champagne(?Idk it was yellow and 15+yrs ago) bolted when she saw the barn at the end of the ride. I fell/got dragged a bit. They forgot to have us sign a safety waiver so it's a good thing for them that my ample bottom absorbed the impact so I was just sore and my parents didn't sue.

But for some reason, we were near Portland, probably at the outlets, and were on the state rt's going back to our campsite instead of the highway. Saw a place advertising trail riding (hideaway?) and had no plans so we went in. It was also like 90 degrees out and humid.

Thought my Dad's saddle looked loose and said something like I should have as we were getting set up. Leader thought I was just being a kid and saying something to sound smart. He said it was fine after a quick once over.

About halfway through the ride the horses are starting to work up a sweat and breathing deeper. I mention the saddle again (I was behind my dad). Guy dismisses me again. Couple minutes later we turned a corner and the momentum sent my dad and the saddle spinning. Dad held on, inverted, for a good 3 seconds while the horse stopped before he dropped.

He was fine, horse was fine, and the saddle finally got tightened. Can't remember the horses looks or name, but she was chill about the whole inverted rider thing so she can be my favorite. Dad passed last year, but stories of his misadventures live on, huzzah!

His name was Hoby and I sadly don't have a picture of him. He was a chestnut QH gelding at my riding stable when I was 12, and he was a grumpy old curmudgeon. But, for some reason he liked me. For me, he'd behave. I don't know why, because I wasn't impressed with him when I first saw him - I've always loved the really beautiful flashy horses and he was just a scruffy red workhorse. But somehow we seemed to be a match made in heaven, and I rode him in the show we put on and got 4th hehe. And, actually, the fact that he liked me is the reason my riding instructor would often pair me with the more difficult horses. I always ended up liking them too, honestly. Maybe they all taught me how individual animals are, and that their personalities can be as weird and delightful as humans.

He was one of the first I created, and he's always thrown really beautiful foals, so I kept breeding him because it was such a pleasure to look through his offspring. Recently, now that some of his foals are a bit older, I've been discovering that he throws some actually nice show horses! So I already liked him, but that really made me realize how awesome he is. Plus I love his name.

In general, I tend to really like Whisky Oaks horses, period. I love *this* one especially because .... well ... just look at him! What a great, riotous combination of colors :) I really love the way that brown presents in the game, and I think he shows it of really well. Plus those big juicy appaloosa spots on that creamy butt ^_^ Like I said, I love flashy horses haha! His name is perfect, too (I'm a sucker for good puns and references). Also, I really appreciate WO's presentation effort with their horses, being an artist. I like that the feathers and mane and tack really impress upon the viewer his size. He's awesome!

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): NL Haltanny, 1988 Arabian stallion. He was my first horse and to this day, he cannot be beat. He was easily handled, careful, calm, willing. I could walk him by mares in heat with twine, if I wanted. He was handled by children with disabilities, so he was bombproof. He once blocked a mare's kick from hitting me, even though he could have moved if he wanted. I could work him barefoot without worrying I'd get stepped on because he was very mindful of his feet when people were near (although I do not recommend working horses barefoot!). And he saved my life. I have PTSD and was in a really bad way right before I got him. For a while, he was why I got up every day.

Favorite game horse you own and why (include link): I love her color. Even if she isn't sporting a lot of white, her color is just so interesting. It reminds me of black cherry cola, Vince her name. Plus she produces pretty foals.

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): My favorite real-life horse is my Appendix-Quarter horse, Sooner. He has helped me overcome many things, and taught me valuable lessons. Whenever I am having a bad day all I can think of is him because he is the reason I am happy today. Without him, I would be nothing honestly. Sooner comes off has skittish and non-loving, but once he gains the trust of someone(me) he is so sweet; I feel as if he is always trying to care for me, and make sure I am safe when riding. I have so many wonderful memories I could explain from the day I brought him home to now, going on my third year with him, but that'd take way too long.

American Dream is one of my favorite horses because she is one of the best-produced horses I have bred, but I also find her coat color unique. Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): Rola Gracie's Song. Nope, she's not famous. Shes only won one race ever. She's my fiery, red headed appendix bred quarter horse mare. Shes 20 years young, (21 on April 13th!) and you could never tell her that. She was bred on my dad's farm, sold to go race, then given back to my dad after she retired. She's named after me. Gracie, quite honestly, doesn't like people. She's hard to get along with. When she was racing, it took two big guys to lead her to the paddock to be saddled, fighting every step. My dad got her back and gave her to me because no one could work with her. She bonded with me immediately and we've been inseparable. She was hard work to retrain, but it was so rewarding. I truly own a one person horse. I love her because she chose me to love and be her one person. She's still mean to just about everyone, and hasn't settled down much in the 13ish years I've had her, but I've never had a more loyal horse, nor one as brave. She will do anything for me, even if she has no clue what to do. This is why she is my favorite.

Favorite real life horse and why: 'Gordon.' He's a big chestnut quarter horse at the barn I currently ride at, but I know him from a previous barn as well. No chrome at all, just big and sorrel. Some people at the barn don't understand why I ride him because he's not fancy at all in his movement. But he's SO smart, has so many buttons and is a fun ride with how responsive he is and how he listens for what you want him to do next. He does whatever I ask but still finds ways to push me. And his ground manners are IMPECCABLE. But it's not like he's an old lesson horse or a schoolmaster - he's still under 10! He's such an amazing godsend since I'm still recovering my confidence as a rider after a traumatic fall and injury that sent me to the hospital and had a four month recovery time. I love Gordon!

Suefy was a complete lucky fluke. I think that Nanotech Primer pair so nicely with plain foundations and have used her sire a number of times. But even more importantly, I love how you can get awesome horses and feel rewarded on just G2 but still feel a drive to breed even better and higher horses.

If it had been just a few days earlier, I would've said Wildland Acre's Solemn Singularity. He was such a prolific sire and it was cool to see him be valued even though he didn't have any super fancy genes. Unfortunately he passed this rollover though. ;(

My Sky and his dam Cinnamon N' Spice. Cinnamon was my favorite horse who I taught to trust people again and she taught me how to forgive the people that had hurt me as a child. Caddo was her son and he and I have been close since his birth. I just got him back last March and we are still bonding again since he has been home. My plan is to show him and trail ride him like I did his dam. My youngest takes him to 4h camp at the end of the month and I am excited to see how he does.

The pony nobody else wanted to ride. Like the Cobs in the game, he was a stocky, hefty pony. He would go through or over anything you pointed him at without hesitation. Unfortunately he would also go through or under or in between anything in his path and wouldn't flick an ear if he scraped you off against a tree in the process. Super smooth gaits, at least until he got his head down and started crowhopping. He didn't care if you dumped you or not - he wouldn't put in extra effort to throw you, he just really liked skipping better than cantering. He also liked grapes.

Favorite real life horse and why (may be current or historical): I hope you don't mind the link, but this is the first day I met my favourite horse who is called Willow! I had a really rough time during university with the death of a family member and a friend so I took up horse riding again with the Uni's Equestrian Society. She is an absolute mare through and through and is a very stubborn and butt-headed. We actually didn't get along at all, but I kept being paired up with her. In the end, I actually learned that she wasn't terribly stubborn, it was that she was just very thorough in how she expected me to ask her. Keeping the story short, I actually entered my first show jumping competition with her and we came second in all our rounds. She's a fantastic little mare, and I honestly wish I could keep riding her.

Herbie. A QH by pedigree, but you'd never have guessed it to see him. He was as long as a freight train and about as easy to steer. But he was totally bombproof. He was a therapy horse, had crutches fall against his legs and sides, wheelchairs bump into his legs, random loud noises, sudden movements, nothing bothered him. A rider had a seizure and fell under Herbie once, and he just stood as if he was nailed in place.

He’s one of my old guys and he was named for a possum that lived in the roof crawl space at our house. It took our local possum guy multiple trips to evict him from the house before we finally found and sealed all of his entrances and exits, but he is finally not living in our house anymore!
