Well I am out of the running. Still not having any luck buying horses. Oh well it was good. I did accomplish more points with this account than I did with my main account in less than 2 months. I am still happy with it.

I have been pretty stable around 30th place the whole time :P I didn't have a chance to get any of darkstars horses, and I have absolutely no chance to stalk the auctions, as I am in a different time zone. But I think I'm doing good anyway. I could probably just drop out, but I'm having fun anyway :)

I still think people get too hung up on whether or not they got darkstar horses or managed to win high pointed horses in the auction. Yes those make it easier but it is still possible to make it without it.

I have 2 - 30 stall barns, the welcome pack 15 stall barn and have only managed to get 4 horses with over 100 points but those 4 are not my biggest point earners. The majority of my horses were bought with 3-29 points.

The ones gaining points like crazy are the older horses that get overlooked because they only have a few points and are thrown on the sales board for cheap or in the auction.

I usually work afternoons so I am not usually on during auctions but the day of I spend some time putting as many 2600hbs bids as I can on any horse that doesn’t have a bid already starting at the top pointed and working my way down the list. Yes I don’t get the really high pointed horses but there’s usually a ton of horses that have training but haven’t been shown much that don’t even get a bid but if you give them a chance they mostly do turn around and earn me a good pile of points.

I’ve gotten a few duds that were owned by non upgraded players and obviously not trained but I try to check for show records and if they’ve been shown recently they have an appropriate score for their age or that the owner is active.

I have an upgrade, multiple barns and over 1 million hbs in my testing account. Agree with the above assessment. If you are only going to try what everyone else is doing then of course you will fail if you can't do that one thing the best. Lots of opportunities if you are willing to think with just a bit more creativity.

Also I will NOT be awarding prizes on a straight point scale. You guys will have to see how things work out but I will be having categories.

Yeah, I just about cry every time I drop down a spot, especially when I keep screwing up.. but I need to just let it go! Lol
I've tried to get off of work for a few minutes to get in on an auction and I fail every single time to get even one horse. So I've just been loving the horses I do have and trying to aquire cheaper ones here and there in order to fill my barns and get my daily bonus up. Just gonna keep on keepin on, there's no way I could place first, but I'm proud of where I've gotten in just these two months and it's so cool to see how everyone else is doing it. Thanks for doing this Ammit, I really love this game and plan to support as much as I can for as long as I'm able. :) :x

I'm enjoying it, I'm certainly not in the running, but my show bonus is going up and I can still keep some breeders too, which realistically is what I'd do if I was playing for myself not just the contest

It is fun. All the individual show entering is really starting to get really tiering, but I have I think 1,300 hbs show bonus about . Not in the running, took too much time on the middle off, but I nearly doubled my points in the past couple weeks since I was able to get the 60 stall barn. The big question is what do I do with my account after this is done. Really getting attached to the horses, not really sure how I would go forward with my big mod Podge of mares and stallions, and even though I kinda am looking forward to not having to use two accounts any more, the breeders would most likely be culled in my main line due to wrong colors.

Yes I think if went any longer my objective would be to save up for a basic upgrade, just so I don't have to hand enter everything!

Thought I had enough for a basic upgrade but silly me thought it was 20 IVs not 30 lol. :))
I have 2 15 stall barns and 1 30 stable barn. Primary barn has about 20 horses in it.

Like a few I'm aiming to get the high point ponies in auction and for sale.
I try avoiding the create breed auction style as I don't have tonnes of barn space. :P

So does that mean with the exception of 1st place any one else in the top 5 aren't guaranteed to win a prize despite the original post?
On the original post it states " On April 1st the account who holds the greatest number of show points is the winner. "

Not trying to start drama or anything just curious :D

It's hard not having an upgrade so I am going to work to that - I haven't got much barn space but I might just get there by the end of next week. I am certainly not selling my hard-earned few show ponies to get some space for that though! :) Who knows what Ammit has in store for us @ParadisePark - just keep pushing though - you're account is doing really well :)

Yes the SINGLE account with the greatest number of show points is the winner. Just like the post says. I never said the rest of the prizes would be going out based on straight show points. I am not sure how they will be awarded yet. Lots of factors like geographic location has affected this contest. I will have to crunch numbers and feel it out.

Honestly, I got a bit bored with my contest accounts. It may also have to do with the fact that I have two contest accounts plus Available to Adopt, plus my main account. That is just too many to focus on at one time. I agree that the hand entering is the worst part. While both my contest accounts are doing okay I have hit a wall. I do not have enough cash to buy a new barn, but I have enough to buy horses! I will admit that I am kind of a stick-in-the-mud about doing things the traditional way. Although I have done a couple other things that I usually avoid, like buying super cheap horses and flipping them. I also keep forgetting to check my here helpers!

I'm having fun with mine. I am not awake for auctions and dislike the breed to sell option although I've done a bit of that so I could get a couple of extra barns. But I have a nice little herd some of which I will keep and hopefully enough good showers so it'll be worth the HBs to merge it into my main account :)
Weirdly I quite like the hand entering, it gives me something to do!

The way to do that Ammit is make it more expensive to breed, so you can't make 2k on each pairing. Not that I want you to close the loophole but I understand the strain on servers and the general "feel" of this practice.
I do tend to go through a lot of HHs myself breeding my foundation RS stallions which I think a lot of people do but I do keep those that pass SBA and are consistent. Passing SBA is hard though so there is a lot I put in to auction every time I go through a breeding spree.
My other account breeds a lot of SFC and DC HHs to her liver foundations and then keeps those with the DP (and the right papering).
I would like to continue these practices, if I could. :)

I don't plan on keep many foundation mares on my main account unless I have gmtd them or they are exactly what I'm after.
I use a lot of silver black and silver grullo hh for my silver blue roan line.
As for my Plaid ,Watercolor and Axiom line I breed random colored mares to get a variety.
Then I auction off the mares and create more the following season. And obviously foals that don't pass. Not keeping large amounts of mares (close to 200 so all 4 studs get max use) allows me to have more room :)
Not including my bridle line which I'm now ceasing.

Maybe make it so you have to keep the mares and or foals for a week?
Or go through certain testing?

I will not be changing the cost for breeding or amount from the auction as that would destabilize all the other balancing in the game. I already have a plan to shut it down with out touching prices.

I am enjoying it. I will say I have got to the point now I know I can't win(or at least highly unlikely) so I am playing like I would if it was my regular account. I was so excited last week to finally win a show pony at auction only to see that it was on the wrong account. My phone freezes up around end of auction time and I miss out every time. I was very sad that I sold some very promising young stock that will never have a good amt of points before the first.

Yes I started doing that some time ago, mostly just playing how I would if I was continuing on, I like what I'm keeping with some pointed show horses added in as well!
I do wish I would have focused on saving up for an upgrade earlier though, even if I couldn't get first pick at show horses it would have made things easier. But there is that the only way of coming up with that much money in the shorter term would have been the breed/dump/auction over and over which isn't really right anyway

The contest has been fun. I am quite happy with my growing stable and will probably merge my contest account with my main one. Chasing points put the priority on barns over an upgrade, though if I was to keep the account, I would go for the upgrade next.

I can't seem to get above mid pack, but I am making some progress. I'm having a great time trying to figure things out without an upgrade and no worry about breeding except with the few intact mares I've got.

I finally got my upgrade - it is so hard without one - remembering to train and hand putting those horse into the shows. I was going to merge the account in with my main at the end but I might use this account to concentrate on high PT show ponies - maybe do some boot-strapping to get it. I will be trawling for the best stallion I can find once this is over. I will be selling a lot of these ponies once they have some points to them. It might be hard to keep 3 accounts going though so i may change my mind ;)

I've had lots of fun.. I was lucky enough to pick up alot of good show horses cheap on the sales board to jump me up 10 spots! I think ill keep this account going afterwards just for showponies. I'll end up buying from the auction ones that have no bids and either donate them to the ATA program when they get enough points or use them for giveaways :)

I just did a search and discovered that my TARDIStables account (non competing) had 3 really high pointed dark star horses that I didn't catch til just now. I've had them for several weeks at least, so I'm going to withdraw that account. On my SummertreeFarms account I bought some darkstar horses in the last auction, but I caught the mistake and sold them back to the game before they could really effect my total points.

Don't know if that voids my Summertree entry, but I am going to go ahead and dissolve the TARDIS account.

The TARDIS barn was never really in the running. It was just my experiment with adopting 2 AtA horses. While they helped, they weren't a game changer. I think success in this contest relies on something that I wasn't doing! :P

The Summertree barn is still in the running, though!

I had fun doing this, knowing I couldn't make it to first place (lack of barn space and funds to catch up to prancing) I haven't worried about buying anymore horses. I have dropped to 3rd rank, if it was the top 5 places to win I defiantly would have pushed to try and keep 2nd place. :)

The contest inspired me to do my own experiment using Great Show horse,Super consist,etc to see how their points grow :D

I had fun doing this. Not sure if I will just bring everyone over to my main account or not. I learned a lot from doing it again. I am no where at the top but I managed to stay in the middle. Buying the horses was fierce. I enjoyed this competition. I enjoyed playing with the tack items this time. On my main account I don't use the tack very often.

I also had fun! I've been on my contest account more than my main account these last couple months lol. It's been hectic in lots of different ways (real life wise) but I definitely enjoyed being a "new player" and learning what it's like without an upgrade or being able to use real money etc!

I'm very excited to see everyone's strategies. I changed what I planned to do several different times so now I just have a kind of crazy-looking account with a few barns and an upgrade. It was fun though and the bonus will help my main account when I merge them.

I kind of wish it was running one more month but I think I will just continue on working to achieve my next goal of basic upgrade and I also plan on keeping different breeding goals on the contest account compared to this one.

But most of all I can’t wait to see what new features/ updates are in store from running this contest.

The contest has really brought up the prices in show ponies!
I just hope new players don't buy some of these as they won't earn their money back before they roll out of the game even a horse with 1000 points only earns 3,214 hbs in a 30 month (1000x0.75 ÷7 is the formula right? )
