Hunt and jump auction bidder?
  • What constitutes a horse going the the hunt and jump auction bidder versus being deleted from the game?
What does that account do with them?
It's all altered horses and none seem to be gene tested when they were before.. ?
I know it's better to just sell a horse back to the game if you don't want it in the game, but the price for auction is just much more alluring than the 1k hbs from game sale.. :/
I'm just confused about that account. Any insight appreciated :)

That's the first time I've seen 'return to game' recommended as "better", can you elaborate on that?

I auctioned a low-quality stallion from my first creates, nobody bid on him and he is now deceased - the auction bidder is a virtual kill pen. I imagine Foundation Rescue may get a chance to cherry-pick horses that don't sell, but I am only guessing there.

  • If you sell back to the game, you keep the experience from creating or breeding the horse, where if you sell the horse in the auction and it goes to the hunt and jump bidder you lose that experience. That’s why selling back to the game is considered better. That’s experience counts towards getting extra stalls in your primary barn.
  • I think there are a bunch of different elements to this question and I will try to answer them all.

KAM, the auction bidder gets anything in the auction that no one else bids on. Sometimes these horses are hidden gems no one else noticed, sometimes they are duds. The auction bidder holds all of those horses for some period of time after the auction runs while the two rescue programs come in and pick the “cream of the crop” for the rescues. For the foundation rescue we know they take everything that is a foundation and perfect foundation quality, and probably meet some other age and breeding criteria. For the lined horse rescue I really don’t understand the criteria, but they get really nice horses! All horses not rescued are deleted from the game. This seems to happen automatically, usually at roll over I think.

If you are getting rid of horses you don’t care about, there are advantages and disadvantages to auctioning/fantasy sell back and normal sell back to game methods. If you auction or use fantasy gene sell back, you lose the experience points that contribute to you earning extra stalls, but you get more hbs. If you sell back to the game for 1000 hbs, you keep your experience points but obviously earn fewer hbs. It’s a bit six of one, half dozen of the other. You should use the method that gets you what you need right now, and for most relatively new players that’s hbs.

One other reason to sell back to game instead of auction is to have complete control over your stock. In particular if you’re trying to quickly cull out some intact horses who perhaps have valuable genes (like satin for instance) but who aren’t of good breeding quality, selling back to the game might be faster for you than snipping everything and auctioning them, risking forgetting to snip one and having a low quality stallion out there throwing tons of low quality foals just because he’s satin. Wow, holy run on sentence, Batman. On that note, Im gonna go make myself some coffee. Freaking cold this morning here in Australia! Im not ready for winter yet!

  • We hadn't explored how the experience thing works yet, thanks for explaining.
  • Thank you so much @cheers. I guess I just threw away some "gems" because the hunt and jump bidder has several of my horses still that I kind of wanted out of the game. I know that's the risk you take, which I why I said selling back to the game is a bit better in my eyes, but hbs ate a huge factor for me also. I didn't understand why they were kept in the first place.. but maybe someone will really benefit from them, or I'll find I can get them back one day. :)
I'm not really too worried about my lines, but I hold consistency and higher PTs to a better standard these days and I'm real picky about certain ones. I need barn space, but keep getting horses that I want to keep so culling is extremely hard for me. Lol
Thanks for the thoughts guys. :D

  • If they’re still in the auction bidder’s barn and not a rescue, they may still be queued for removal from the game. Honestly, I don’t usually watch for them to be destroyed unless I’m hoping to remove offspring of a horse I’ve decided to GMT...

  • Wait, you can do that?! Holy Cheerios Batman!
  • They only get removed from the game if they have have no foals, if they have foals they will eventually end up as deceased. The only ones foundation rescue take, are foundations at perfect quality and have no foals. I rarely any in auction as I don't like intacts going back into the game to breed rubbish. That said I rarely sell anything anyway LOL
