Your official standings for week 3

I have adjusted the contest so that horses bred by darkstar no longer count towards point totals. It was just too random and location based on who got them. Obviously those horses still grant you lots of money so they are still worth having in your barn but they won't count towards winning the nexus horse. It's not the most ideal solution but it's what I can make work.

Yeah, at that price no one is going to get a fraction of the money they paid for the horses back. I know people have been saying a horse is worth as much as someone will buy it for, but since the function of a show horse is to get you money... Hope no newer players don't get tricked into buying them thinking they are actually worth that much.

Argh should have checked the forum before the sales boards! Just paid a fairly considerable sum for a good show pony from someone else which was originally from darkstar, guess that's not going to count now? Well, certainly mixes up the contest a bit!

Can we put the ones of dark star back up in auction? I have 5 horses of hers. I know they at least contribute to my daily show bonus. Just wondering if putting them up to free up stalls would be worth while. I know for me I dropped from 17th to 29th. So definitely not in yhe running now.

As much as I love Dark Star's horses, and I really do, it would take an enormous amount of luck to beat a stable full of them

Dark star I find the whole thing funny. Lots was learned and that was the whole point of this contest, was for me to learn more about how new stables can grow and what they did. It was awesome for me. :D

I have fell significantly with hidden royal. I just don't have a good way to watch the auction and the ones for sale are all rank specials and I can't spent 50k for 200pts. I an having a good time but I guess we shall see:)

I wouldn’t be so quick to completely count yourself out of the running now that dark stars horses aren’t counting. They are still earning you money that can go towards buying more horses to make up the difference in points.

The majority of the horses I’ve bought off the sales boards have held 20-40 points with a very few 50pointers. I only have 4 horses with points over 100. The rest of the points I hold have been earned while the horses have been sitting in my barn.

I’ve been tracking my progress through the standings list since Ammit posted it after week 1 and examining the point differences between the standings. The difference between a lot of accounts is 1 or 2 horses with 20-50 points each.

After week 1 I was in 64th place. I made a goal of moving up 1 placing each day, if possible. This morning I had reached 42nd place. When the standings were updated I was sitting in 27th place. I managed to win 11 horses in the auction with 18-55.5 points each and now sit at 25th. After I finish showing my new horses I hope to be sitting in 24th place as there is only 32points between us.

I have met my goal of moving up 1 placing on most days although a few days I’ve kept the same # of points and a few days other people have collected more points and pushed me back down.

Even though the Dark Star horses don't count towards your final point total, look at what they do for your daily show bonus. Those are your money makers right now and that's HUGE.

Wow I actually don't feel like I've destroyed my chances by not showing or going on the account at all last week, in fact I've gone up a place, so now I'm miles more motivated.
I think the thing about Dark Star's horses not counting makes perfect sense, as they wont always have show horses for sale so that's not a realistic representation of the experience of a new player.

So, I think I need to go back to the rules on this, I've been doing the bare minimum while trying my best, lol but are we allowed to upgrade anything at all? I thought I saw some players with upgrades.. maybe they've just earned enough to make IV purchases, which is beyond me.. I'm so confused as to how I'm doing somewhat well, but making hardly any money.. and you are tracking who sells horses to who?
I'm definitely dropping, but not sure how I can change that, I have absolutely no strategy other than buying some horses with some points when I'm able. Ha :-SS :-S :-/

Upgrades and extra barns are allowed only if you earn the money in the game to do it. No outside money is allowed to be used

I've no idea how some have made enough to buy new barns and breed so many horses. They obviously know a trick I don't haha.
Although if you flipped buy to breed then sell many times I suppose you could make big money quite fast ,that may well be what's happening.

Some people may have been breed/selling and ended up winning a lottery too during the create process, which could have allowed them to get ahead of the curve that way, depending on how much they won.

I just wanted to verify something. Darkstar bred horses are not counted, I get that. But what about those that are simply sold by Darkstar but had been bred by someone else?

I'm curious how much the standings will change at monthly roll over. I notice several people have horses that potentially will pass then, but I didn't look to see if those older horses were dark star or not. That might shake things up though.

All of my older ones are Dark Star.
I'm just looking at mine and thinking to next year.
Stall space is a real problem! I have out of sheer fluke managed to get quite a nice herd of second gen livers and a gold mare. I'd like to keep all their foals for showing or breeding but if i do that i'd pretty much give up any chance of being in the top 5 i think.
So do i play like I would if it were not a contest account or just breed and yum so i can afford horses with points. It's a tricky one!
I never intended to pick up horses i wanted to keep haha

I believe that the original rules said you could not do that.

This quote comes from the rules page:

Members may not sell and breed horses between multiple accounts they own for any reason.
Sales or breedings between accounts owned by the same member will result in fines or removed horses.

So just to be safe I would say no. Even through public auction.

It’s really amazing how many points some people have managed to gather! This has been a fun experiment so far and I’ll be a little sad when it’s over. It’s fun to have goals other than “breed all the ponies” :)

Is that true about the auction? I think I bought a horse of mine for 2600 from auction because it was a pretty guy for my show herd. I am sorry.
I have once or twice bought a horse between my 2 accounts ChilliFireFarm and Dinascar in auction as it is allowed usually. I only buy them for 2.6k if it goes above that I let the other person take it.
If that is the case you can remove DinaChill from the contest Ammit and I am very sorry.

It is explicit stated in the initial rules post that you can't use your primary account in anyway. Just dump it in the auction so it isn't counting for your total and it's fine :D

No I sold DinaChil's horse to Dinascar not the other way around. The horse in question:- (so I made all of 100hbs from the sale, rather than 2.5k from the auction I got 2,6k) so I can't dump the horse because it is not adding to DinaChill's total at all.

No Dinascar (my main account) now owns the horse, the contest account bred it and sold it in auction

Actually I should've read those rules properly, it is my fault. I know that associated accounts can buy each others horses only in the auction house and I assumed the contest account would be similar. I will withdraw my contest account. It's ok I wasn't near the top and I have enjoyed it anyway :)

I sold a horse from my contest account.. then seen it advertised on the forum by the new owner and bought it on my main account before i svsn realised it was bred by my contest account.. is this not allowed? I can sell the horse if need be but i didnt buy it from my contest account and it was completely unintentional to buy a horse at all related to me contest

I’ve almost filled my 15 stall barn with horses holding 100-242 points and by the time I finish showing everything I should have 2 more 100 pointers.

I have only bought 4 horses with over 100 points the rest were mostly bought with 18-30 points at most, although a few in my high points barn were in the 3-18 range.
