Waiting for Real Foals to be born- Arrived
  • I have a couple of minis that are expecting this year. One is going to foal this weekend. This will be her last foal. She's Homoz Toby. She's bred to a Splash/Toby with blue eyes. I'm hoping for a blue eyed hom toby/ het Splash filly. :D I'd prefer only 40% white. Just hoping for the moon on this one.

Dam tends to throw 20% white. The foals always have 4 white stockings. Most have some face white.
Stud is young and has only had 3 foals so dont know what to expect. When crossed with a min toby he threw a max white but crossed with a 60% white toby/splash he threw a min toby/splash. :D So anything is possible! So far he's thrown 100% fillies.

    I'm rambling again...Wish me luck!
  • Good luck! Please post pictures here or on the FB discussion page when she foals down! Cmon little mini mare, you can do it!
  • Ooh, that is exciting! Best of luck!

  • How exciting! I bet mini babies get an extra dose of cuteness.
  • The biggest thing is I always forget how tiny they are when they are born. Ha! Not that a grown mini is big or anything but they are really tiny when they are first born. As soon as they hit the ground and nurse they start growing. I have yearlings that are almost waist high, its hard to believe that they were about knee high last year. :x

When they are born at around 15lbs and you can pick them up it kinda redfines the saying "Hold your horses."

  • I went out at 10pm before bed to check on the mom to be and she was in stage 1 of labor. Baby arrived soon after. I got everything that I wanted except its a boy. Blah. Mom has had 8 fillies in a row and dad has had 4 fillies. Well his first colt is born and he's breathtaking!
  • Congrats! New herd sire? :) Glad you got all the markings down!

  • Ooooh, already? Please post a picture! :3 And hey, gender changes only cost 2 GMTs, so maybe you can do something about that. :P

  • I soo wish the changing gender was that easy in real life. I had a name all picked out for a girl and with his markings it would have been a great name. He was going to be Anigha. Hmmm now maybe Skyler.
  • Omg hes adorable! I would love to breed quality minis! So you are totally living my dream hun. Teehee the real life colt fairy just visited u! Lmao

  • He is stunning. I love his markings. I wish I had a foal this year. I haven't had a foal born in 2 years. I miss having them around.

Dried off photos. He's 22 inches tall. Bout time the size comes down a bit. My foals have been running 23-25 inches. Ideally I'd like to see 21 inch foals but havent seen any that small in a while. My tiniest one was a premie and she was 18 inches tall and 16 inches long. Sooo little. Well for me anyhow. I know that for some mini breeders 18 inches would be big.
  • He is so stinking adorable!
  • Omg. Hes SOOO Fluffy! ;;)

  • Ahhhhh he's adorable!
  • Wow - gorgeous :X Cograts!
  • Congrats on a healthy momma and baby, Skylight! He's a cute little fellow! I'm currently anxiously awaiting my mare to drop her Friesian sport horse baby. We're 26 days out until her "due" date, but she's a maiden so we're expecting her to either go long or drop when we least expect it. Hopefully ours turns out as cute as your boy. :)
  • Thanks Ya'll. I'm enjoying him very much. He's soo tiny compared to the yearlings. Sometimes I wished they would stay babies forever.

OH His barn name is Skyler. I havent picked a reg name yet cuz he was suppose to be a girl.

I had Anigha picked out for a barn name and Skylight's Everlasting Sugar for reg name.
  • So cute! Congrats!
