New Member Needing Advice
-
Hey everyone! I haven’t been on this game long and am looking for advice on where to go from here. Most of my horses are foundations through herd helpers and am curious on who to breed, sell, and spay/geld and use for shows. Also what genes to look for especially so I know what to breed for. If anyone would be willing to go through my herd that would be great. Just PM me with your advice/opinions if possible.

Most of those are personal goals. Once you’ve picked a goal we can help narrow down on how to achieve it.
What colours do you love so far? (there’s no rule it can’t change or there needs to be only one)
I personally show everything. As long as the horse places above last place it will earn points that get converted into your daily show bonus using the following formula on either your total points or a horses to see how much they contribute per day = (total points X 0.75) divided by 7
On this account my strategy it combing the foundation rescue (ID#13) for horses with at least 30+ points which boosts my daily bonus by 3+hbs these horses have been sitting and training for quite a while so will move up and earn more points quicker than your regular creates just starting out.
If you aren’t thrilled by the colour of any of your horses spay/ geld them and continue showing them. If you really need the room cull the horses with the least overall points amongst their other horses their age -
Thank you so much! This definitely gave me a lot to look at as I continue on in the game

Your welcome.
When you’ve picked a goal ask again for help.
But what I would consider keeping or culling from someone else’s barn may not be what they would consider keeping or culling from their barn and vice versa.
If you say you want to breed true breeding black splash tobianos an outsider could then go through your barns and suggest culling all of your chestnut mares without tobiano and splash. -
Welcome!
Have you checked out AvailableToAdopt yet? You get 2 free show horses!
Also many many players here are happy to help! Remember the forum is your friend! Post your questions and horses pertaining to the questions.
You can pm me if you want help as well!
I have a cool forum thread about general ingame questions that people continually attatch other helpful posts to!

As Riley1119 has said, this game is all about setting personal goals and working toward them. Popular colors or patterns change continually, although liver chestnuts and chocolate palominos (horses with DP) tend to be a fairly consistent favorite. Otherwise, it's sort of like flavor of the month.
Showing, via the showing bonus, is the most reliable way of raising money for your stable. It takes a while to build your point level up, but it's worth the time it takes in the end. Also, except for mares and stallions in pasture, make it a point to train and show all your horses, whether neutered or intact. Fortunately, in this game there's no worry about stallions being distracted by mares in season or the presence of other stallions in a class. :D
Personally, I have a little bit of almost everything, but most of my horses range from foundations to about 3rd generation. I just keep on collecting them until showing them now supports almost anything I want to do on the game.
Some of the rules I work by (note, I have a Premium Upgrade, so all testing is open to me. You may not have this luxury yet):
1. Auction any foundations neutered by breeding advice or smart breeding advice that have PT scores less than 9.0.
2. Neuter all colts that paper lower than their sire or, generally, comparison test about as good as their sire. Compare colts to their brothers with the same paper level and neuter any that are worse than a similarly papered brother. I must admit that I'm not often up-to-date with doing this, but I certainly don't breed any colt that has not met this standard.
3. Neuter all fillies that paper lower than their dams. Once there are enough mares in a generation that have papered better than their dams, neuter all those who have papered the same as their dams. For example, keep and breed Red papered 2nd gen mares until there are at least 10 Blue papered mares in that line.
As you can see, I rely heavily on the complete set of tests. Without that, I would suggest that if you find that a stallion or mare continually, game year after game year, has all of their offspring neutered, neuter that horse and take it out of your breeding pool. You have to give this several years to make it a reliable guide, especially with mares who can only have one foal per season. It takes a number of game years and breeding to a variety of stallions to get a true picture.
This advice applies if you're interested in improving your lines with every new generation. There's absolutely nothing wrong with playing Hunt and Jump to breed flashy pixel ponies, so long as you keep up with the showing and maintain a good show string of neuters to help support your game. There's less of a market for horses from uneven or static lines than for those that come from improving lines, but there's no reason not to play any way you like.
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
