Pony or horse?
-
Which do you prefer and why?
-
I prefer ponies and cobs because that's what have in real life! There is no advantage in the game though to any particular size
-
I prefer horses. Definitely. In fact I have an obsession with the really TALL ones. (although I breed light boned tall ones on here, I like the Big and tall ones mostly here). My last boy was 16.3 but built like a halter horse. We did really well in HUS and halter. My new girl isn't as "Big" but she is taller. 17hh. (Still fairly "big" though).
I am relatively short, so I enjoy my chance to be taller than everyone else. I also have this weird effect of making every horse I ride look small.
Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses. -
Unfortunately, horses.
Not only am I tall, but I got dem legs for days, gurl. Everyone jokes that my legs look like they're dragging the ground on any horse that's under 16hh. And on anything under 14.3hh my leg cues become completely ineffective as I can't reach their bellies. T-T
It sometimes sucks, because some of my favorite horses to ride are 15-15.2hh. But I've seen pictures of me on them. They're not flattering, for me or for the horse!!
So I actually literally cannot ride ponies due to my height, and can't ride anything normal-sized in serious competition without looking awkward.
I like to groom ponies, though! They're a lot easier to groom than the giraffes I ride, mostly because they can't throw their heads out of the reach of my brush. ;) -
Horses for me, I prefer 16hh and taller, even though i'm really short and it is hard to mount. I had a 15.2 boy, but I looked a little odd on top of him. I had to teach my 16hh boy to bow so I could get on him without a ladder. But that's what I get with a Thoughbred/percheron cross. my 15.2 boy was a pure quarter.

Horses! I like the breed better, plus I'm on the tall side.
-
I love both.
I’m 5’6” but I’ve got a 13.2 mare. She’s fairly small but super fat (hehe she’s spoiled rotten) I don’t feel to big on her but I feel kinda tall standing next to her.
I’ve ridden horses up to 16.3 in height but I like being closer to the ground although being high up makes me feel mighty in some way lol!EasternShowBarn

Horses! I have every end of the height spectrum though. My shortest now is my 14.1 black and white paint mare Lady. Her sister Dandi isn't much taller. My tallest is my appendix bred QH Gracie, she's 17.2. My boy Joker is somewhere in the middle. My good barrel mare Easter was 13.3 but she thought she was the biggest baddest horse to step in an arena!

Ponies. I have really short legs and need to ride in pony irons for English and have my western saddles altered. I look like a joke on anything 16+ lol.

I prefer 14 hands, give or take, but I wouldn't really say I prefer ponies. My favorite breed is the Arabian. I like "small horses".#28036
-
I love both. I am short and prefer to ride ponies really (as I can then get off/on to open gates!) but my horse is 15'2. I also own a clydesdale who is nearly 17h who I also ride. I suspect I look silly on him but he is such a lovely ride I don't care. :)
-
I like the horses because they seem to show more details than their smaller counter parts, I think the ponies are very cute though and I do enjoy the cobs, but they do have some size on them. In real life when I am able to get a horse again, I want to get a mini gypsy cob or horse, I can't ride horses because I hurt my back years ago and Doc said no more horse back riding- I said ever, He okay only if you walk them(where is the fun in that, lol). But he never said anything about driving the horse, I am going to have a small driving Gypsy Cob/Mini horse. The minis are starting to show up in the USA and there are some breeders that are working on down sizing the Gypsy Vanner horses/Cobs. If the horse comes from Europe than the will be called Cobs, is they are bred in the USA to Miniature Horses or some ponies they will be called Mini Gypsy horses.

I have a little mini cob - (I'm UK based). Chestnut tobiano.
You can see him on top of my horse pics with his friend the Clydesdale (if you have a magnifying glass!). He is smaller than his pixel pony namesake :)

I don't have access to riding, so I couldn't say in terms of that for preference, but for sheer aesthetics, I *love* huge horses, both in real life and the game. I don't know why, I just like big vast things (the ocean, deserts, space ... drafts xD). I think maybe I like how humbling it is stand next to a creature so huge. <3~ Drafts 4 Lyfe~

Horses! Both of my current show horses in real life are 17h+ (17h, 17.2h) with the majority of my herd being 16.2 and up. I'm EXTREMELY excited to be breeding my show mare (Thoroughbred) to a 17.2 Registered Irish Draught this upcoming season. He throws babies bigger larger in height than himself without looking drafty or clunky. Lovely hunt horses with scope for days that does well in the 1.30m+ classes and still ammy friendly. Needless to say, the taller the better for me. <3

He's very cute Dinascar! I'm going to try and breed a few mini cobs!Thanked by 1Dinascar

He is cheeky as well - he needs a job. He was a rescue as he was mistreated in his earlier life. Still only 4 yrs old. I think he would make a cute driving pony. We will have to see.. :)
-
The older I get, the shorter I prefer my equines :)
-
Ponies! Mine are all about waist high. :D
-
We need a carting division on here. :O

IRL I love everything, but as I am tall (and now, after I havent been riding for a while, a "bit" heavy. lol), I prefer horses.
In the game, I have a bit of everything, but my favourites are cobs <3
