Wow! Sales board and Public Auction are BOOMING
  • We aren't even a full day into the contest and the sales board has NOTHING over 100pts for less than 3000, and everything in the auction with over 100 points has been bid up over 3000! Way to kick up the economy! ;)

  • LOL I reckon, I went to look at the sales boards and nothing with any points for easy money!! I saw all the ones in the auction but I don't really have the mentality for auctions so I'll just have to find some pointed ponies as they come along. I must admit the ones with 1000 plus points in the auction as long as under 15yo would have to be worth a bit anyway for people doing the contest
  • Lol is that what's going on? Since I got up this morning I've sold 16 horses. Most of them had been sitting there for a few weeks. I just thought everyone had financially recovered from buying the RSes last month.
  • It is always hard to find good pointed show ponies - even harder now :)
I am always amazed how there are horses up for sale who have hardly been in shows. I understand the odd mare who sits in pasture but surely people show all the others - but no they don't. They miss out... (wanted to shout that but worried I might get told off! ;) )
  • Spending precious new barn HBs on pointed horses this early in the contest probably isn’t the best way to go about it. It might be better to save those HBs and spend them on new create mares to pasture breed and auction. Get yourself a couple hundred HBs then hit the sales/auction boards in a week or two when everyone else is broke and more folks are trying to make space for pretty foals, and offloading older horses.

I’m not competing myself, but I look forward to seeing which strategy wins.
  • That's exactly what I did dark star. I was a little worried (actually a lot worried) that I messed myself up already and should have boight pointed horses instead, but makes me feel way better that someone like you said that's a better way to do it. :)

  • Oh, I don’t know if that will be successful! Just seems like it might. It’s still going to be tricky.
  • Yes indeed. I'm so up for it though, challenges are fun!

  • Oh I knew exactly what would happen when I did this. >:)

You want to see people value show horses. Let me show you...
  • :) good. We needed this:)
  • DarkStar it's certainly going to be interesting game play that's for sure! A few different strategies, not sure what I'm doing myself LOL!
  • I bought 12 show ponies tonight and only will get 105 hbs. I still have some money left but think I might of messed up.
  • I wasn't able to log in with my new account. :(
  • Yep I have been looking for horses too and they are more than what want to spend. Lol
  • Whats going on?! HAHA im so lost.
  • I am super interested to see which 'strategy' works best. Personally, my main account is also very new and I used the buy/breed/auction option over there so, instead of doing the exact same thing on this account, I am opting to try for the 'buy pointed show ponies'. Now I'm not sure that it will be the way to win the contest but, personally, that's not my main objective either (though it would be an amazing bonus). I want to see how playing this way differs from the other and which ends up being more fun/interesting/engaging and which way would keep me around longer as a player. Very smart move on Ammit's part for making this contest though as it seems to have immediately changed some of the values of horses but I'm hesitant to say that it will last in the long term. Short term, sure, because everyone wants to win that beauty of a pony but, after the contest, I wonder what will happen when everyone goes back to their main accounts.

  • @Celestine I don't know but for me I may just merge with my other account. Not sure if handling three accounts would make me crazy or not. I also have a HJ1 account too, plus my main HJ2 account and this account now so I bet I go crazy lol
  • @RKOEstates
I had forgotten about the merge accounts option! I still wonder though if the economy will go back to the way it was prior to the contest? I suppose that changing the economy of the game was not really the point, but rather just seeing how much money can be made on a new account and how many points you can accumulate in that same short period of time. Not sure what I'll do with this account at the end of the contest, I guess we'll see where it takes me and what this account looks like by the end. Should be interesting to compare to my 'main' account which was only just created on Jan 12th. lol

  • Actually, changing the economy is the point. There's been a discussion on Facebook about how to get new players away from short-sighted strategies and onto show ponies. :) This is a very public, highly incentives way of getting the word out and demonstrating different strategies at the same time. :D

  • Just joined the fray - missed the auction and there is nothing with points for sale. Oh well, it is not always the first out of the gate that wins. Need to get my welcome pack (I suspect Ammit has a HUGE backlog) then be prepped for the next auction. (Also known as DragonRun)
  • Changing the economy was not the point.

The point was to get a large mass of very experience players who know how to make money to all try a bunch of getting started strategies and really feel out the new member experience so I have a better understanding of what changes should be made to the system in the future.
  • Well whatever you're reasons you've made my next two months because all I ever sell is pointed show horses.
    Thanked by 1Ammit
  • lol @shad0cat I think you could, in theory, sell yourself out of stock at this rate... :)

Ammit - Are you going to have everyone write a 500-word essay on their experience at the end of it? Hehehe, all joking aside I am actually writing little notes of my experience on my contest account on a weekly basis so it's easier to break down what I did and what I was thinking. Mostly the 'what was I thinking?!' part. ;)

  • lol @Ren god I hope Ammit dosn't want an essay, I would surely fail this experiment :D
  • I thought I was on a roll going to the foundation rescue and picking up horses who had history showing well! By the time I scoured the horses for sale there was nothing good left! Waiting for my Sunday funday money to kick in so I get another horse. I think I'm loosing at this :))

  • Well I don't sell all my show ponies I have to keep some for myself but every Sunday-Tues after my barns show I go through and put up anything that's 10.5 and below that's achieved 100+ points. Yes this week I did sell out. There were 19, some were left from last month when sales were down. They all went in the space of 24 hours.
