Breeding via embryo - Only once?
-
Is it still a thing that you can pull embryos every 5 days from a mare? or breed live/straws 5 days after you pull an embryo? I thought I had already bred my OWAB mare (http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=446169), then when I went to mark it down I notice that I had already marked her bred her via embryo. I couldn't find a foal, but I think I remember I sent it to FSYCC. I tried it again with another mare, and, while the foal died before birth because I messed up on the Kit stuff, it still allowed the breeding.
DISCLAIMER: could Dena be losing her mind, and NOT have bred both these mares....perhaps, but I know for SURE I bred Firefall (http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=194192) twice! -
I don't know. But I do know that Paints had an issue a couple months ago with mares that she usually mass flushes. She had traded away a couple of eggs and people had used them in that early part of the next breeding season. Then when she went to flush the mares for that season, they already showed foals for the season so they couldn't be flushed, even though the eggs were from a previous season.... (I've explained that badly. Ok, so let's say she mass flushed a mare in March, traded away an egg. The egg was used in early April, so when she went to flush the mare again April, she couldn't because the mare already had a foal born in April from a March egg)
So my understanding from that is you can pull the eggs, but once you use an egg or breed the mare, you can't pull any more. You need to pull and store til you're ready to use all of them.
Don't know if that's really what you're asking or not...hope it helps nonetheless! -
Actually, just as a clarification in terms--you pull eggs from a mare, combine them with a straw from a stallion to make an embryo, and THEN you implant the embryo in another, unbred mare to produce the desired foal.
If you pull a single egg from a mare, you should be able to pull another one on the 6th day afterwards, unless you breed her in the meantime, but you can live cover her immediately after pulling the egg. However, if you do a mass flush, you get all the eggs the mare might have produced during a breeding season and she can't be live covered in that season.
Just as an example and to check what would happen, I pulled an egg from this mare,
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=341698
created an embryo with a straw I had on hand, implanted the embryo in another mare and got a foal. Her info page record said 0 foals this year, the foal from the embryo WAS recorded on her family page and appeared in her offspring list. I was able to breed her immediately to another stallion and got a second foal. This is the way I thought it should work, at least as I have always done it.
I had never, in all the time I've been playing, created an embryo directly using a straw on an open mare and removing the embryo to implant in another mare. Here's what happened when I tried this route:
I used a straw on this mare, to create an embryo,
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=341702
implanted the embryo to create a foal. I was then able to breed her live cover immediately afterwards. Now her info tab shows her as bred 1 time this year, and she has two foals in her family record, just like the one above.
So I am guessing that you did indeed Yum the first foal from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Using an egg with not mark your mare as bred for the season. Does not mater if it is from last season or not. The game does not even know when you pulled an egg.
