When should paper levels increase in generations?
-
Hi guys, just trying to start some draft foundation lines and am wondering whether I should be gelding the second generation colts who do not score higher than a C in stallion papering. Should I just be gelding any second gen "C"'s? When should paper levels in offspring start going up? (generation-wise)
Hopefully this makes sense, I am just trying to breed the best I can from the beginning with this line! :)
Thanks everyone -
Hopefully this thread will help. I bookmarked it and go back to it every breeding season as I go through my foals.

It really depends if you want your second gens for breeding or not. If you cannot compare them, and want them for breeding, then geld the 'C's' and only keep the 'B's'. Each person does it different. I have kept a few of mine intact and bred show horses with them. I have a few 'C' second gens, that produce better points/profit show horses than some of my 'B' second gens. That is were I make my hbs, showing bonuses.Thanked by 1goodnessgracious
