So I had this beautiful girl for my SS. she is a definite hom kp (both parents are hom) and hom snowflake- the only thing is, she didn't get the extra kit gene.

No problemo. I added the extra w20 onto the dams side, and a problem arose.. She wasn't registerable in the KP club.

Did I do anything wrong..? (Mind you, she is only in one other club!)

I think, I could be wrong though and Paradise isn't around for me to confirm but Speckles is only het KP so she might not have thrown the KP.

That does make sense- but wouldn't I still be able to add it, even if speckles was het?

I added speckles w20, because I thought that was the allele with KP.. Before the horse was kitsb1 kit, and it wasn't able to be registered. It still isnt, which is really throwing me off..

Except.. He visibly has KP and is registerable?

SO KP itself is a separate gene that can't be tested for but it needs two kits and two kit promoter genes to express (so it's actually a total of 4 genes needed). If Speckles didn't throw her single KP gene, even if the foal has two kits it will be only be het KP so it wont express or be register-able as KP. Its looking like your baby missed the KP gene from Speckles :( However I believe KP is in the gene lab so you may be able to check her and see what it says for KP.

It just means that Speckles didn’t pass on her copy of KP, since she is only het. So you will need another token to add on the KP from Speckles in order to register her. The boy got the copy of KP, just not the W20. In the girls case, she missed both.

I thought for some reason that the foal HAD to have gotten the copy, and that an extra allele would have change their appearance. Its been pretty hectic, and my brain is fried lol.

I don't think ill add the extra KP then. My SS doesn't even breed for it, so I wouldn't want to spend an extra 250k when she wouldn't really like it.
