Hey good morning. I have a question about doing a boost on a stallion vs doing GMT for higher PT. What's the difference in the benefits ?

I could be wrong but I don't believe you can GMT the PT. You can GMT consistent and inconsistent but the only way to possibly change PT and/or paper is with the Boosts.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge won't be far behind me with more information about it for you.

Boosting only boost a horses breeding ability/papers not their PT.
If i remember correctly gmting them consistent can bring up their PT but not by much.

Remember PT does not affect how well a horse breed. The PT score indicates roughly how long a horse will train for :)
High PT doesn't always mean a good show horse either.

True about PT not necessarily making a good shower. Take a look at this guy's show record if you want a good laugh. It took him months befroe he placed anywhere but dead last. There was a glimmer of hope...and now he's back to his true form.

Yeah, horses with high PTs race up the classes too fast to actually make alot of money. If they level off in a good place, they can make alot more than lower PT horses though.

A quick look at his showing records makes it clear that he has been adding 10 points to his show score with every training. Since he started out with a score of 0, and most levels/grades contain a 10 point spread, once you get out of Level 1 and until you get into Level 2, he was bound to have a disappointing record. He hasn't leveled off yet, so he may end up earning a few more points before he ages out of the game.

Changing from Inconsistent to Consistent can add up to .50 to the score.

So boosting would take a B to an A ? And boosting won't change the PT score then? And the GMT consistancy will change inconsistent to consistent plus and few fraction points in PT.

If a horse is consistent but low PT, is it worth GMTing for a higher PT ?

Boosting only might take a B to an A—a 5% boost will take an Exceptional foundation to an A I think, but it won’t take a low B up a paper.

I think GMTing a consistent horse go perfectly consistent might make no difference at all, or might raise the PT by 0.1-0.2 points. That’s a lot of hbs for a really small change...

Boosting won’t touch PT, and GMTing consistency won’t touch papering. The two are messing with totally different sets of hidden numbers.

I can’t speak to boosting as I have not done that yet. However, I recently gmt-ed my DBTO son from inconsistent to consistent and he went from 9.9 to 10.4. I did have to re-test the performance inspection also
