Pricing foals that passed SBA?
-
This is new for me but am wondering how you determine their value? I am wanting to only keep a few this season.
My other question is how do you all get people I treated in your horses? -
For me I price my 2nd gens for a minimum of 5k if they are red papered and consistent. Then go from there. 3rd gens go for 8-12k..
If they have good genes they will go for more. If they dont sell i either lower my prices or just add them to my show team .
I generally post in the sales section of the forum to get people interested in them. Some dont sell as they are quite common (plain chestnuts normally) so I mostly just snip them upon sorting without offering them for sale.Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
Its all trial and error. It took me a while to figure out a price for my horses that keep them moving along and not sitting on the sales board. Some do sit there and never sell whereas others sell quickly.
Another way for pricing is to search the sales board with horses with the same genes as tours and see what they are going for :)Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.

I am getting quite a few passing SBA. I was hoping it would cut my breeding herd by half but it really didnt do that. Which is good and not good at the same time.
I also have mares that are uneven. I think I am gonna go away from bootstrapping right now so how would you price them? Most are uneven by a generation. -
It's hard to say without seeing the foals. Another thing you can do is even put a post and say offers? That could give you a benchmark for pricingBreeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.

You could just post a link to all your foals and ask for offers giving your wanted price as a rough guide and see what happens.
Eg - 2nd gen 5k, 3rd gen 8k, any with DP add 1k, unevens around 5k if blue etc. Please make offers. I am sure you will get interest :)
Lots of people are bootstrapping and the fillies go fairly quickly if blue or gold on the bootstrap forum. -
Ok I will go through and look at the foals and see what I am keeping and hoping to get another barn or two to put those foals for sale into.

If you have any horses you plan to sell that are DP but not sooty, I'd be interested in looking at them. Especially fillies and mares, but possibly colts as well. Uneven is fine with me.
I generally price mine fairly cheap unless they have special genes, like DP, snowflake, s+. But I don't usually sell fillies, just a few colts I don't need that are too nice for the show string. :)#28036
