Because chestnut cant have silver and he registers in the silver breeders clubLife is Special live it to your fullest
-
I don't know as far as liver chestnut having silver or not.
I have this Chesnut
and this Bay
I've seen a lot of these darker bays so, I vote Silver Bay. -
No At, no brown. I agree with Abbey, maybe silver bay.
EDIT:
My silver brown, Magellan's Coffee:
A silver bay of mine, Forbidden Crossroads: -
He carries silvert, doesn't express it. Chestnuts register in the silver club all the time.

It is quite puzzling. These are two liver chestnuts from the same family. They have silvery hair but aren't registered in Silver. *shrug* I give up. -
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=76237
Silver Brown with no At, just to play devil's advocate. -
scarlet that's because brown used to be defined as sooty bay in the game. That is an old horse, still in the head downhill position. It's also why a lot of HHs say "brown" when they actually give you dark bays.
-
Thanks Scarlet, I knew I had some liver chestnuts, with flaxen or silver. I was looking up my silver browns and bays first. I have a lot more horses with flaxen that the two Scarlett posted.
I have a lot of flaxen liver chestnuts from my Whipsaw Roses line. His tend to look more cream to light tan manes and tails. What I think as flaxen though. He does throw a few white or silver colored manes and tails once in a while. My Three Tree's/Cuyamaca Campfire liver foals usually have the white or silver color in their manes and tails. And I have a few white or silver colored manes and tails from Abby's Mission Control. -
Baya, why can't he be chestnut?
-
Chestnut registers in silver if it carries silver, but you won't see it.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=132225 -
Oh thanks Cheers, I had no idea. :D
-
I learned the hard way, buying mares with the silver brown HH tattoo after the change had come in and color testing.....wasted a lot of hbs that way one week!
-
As for why some flaxen chestnuts have silvery manes and others have straw yellow ones, that is a mystery I don't understand! I have both from my DP flaxen stallion, who has a silvery mane but doesn't carry silver.
-
AtAt S+Ssty silver brown, just for comparison.
-
Flaxen comes in a huge range of colors from silvery to yellow to straw colored to pinkish. If you reroll a flaxen horse you'll see all of them.
-
@Abbey Road and Cheers, thank you! I am smitten with him. Though I do not own his sire so I don't know how to comparison test him. Unless, could I comparison test him to any stallion in my barn?
-
@ Ritsika, yes you can compare with your stallions. Just not his sire if you don't own him.
-
@PaintsStables, would it be beneficial to comparison test him to a foundation stallion from my barn?
-
Heartbreaker. I'm pretty sure he is a brown Sabino 2 splash Rabicano sooty+ satin gelding.... -
@ Ritsika, it is really up to you. I don't know how beneficial it would be, being they are from different lines. Just make sure it is the same generation you compare him to. I do it all the time with outside colts that I buy compared to my colts.
Here's is one I just bred, he looks like the one in Cheers post.
Candy Pass is color tested. Brown sabino2, splash:

Cheers and PaintsStables, they are both so beautiful!Thanked by 1Cheers
-
Thanks!
-
@Cheers you must be gutted that he's gelded! He's so gorgeous
For me, its my first round of third gen foals and I got my first A papered colt this time round! So happy.
Really happy with this filly, too. -
Life is Special live it to your fullest
-
I think my colt is probably dark silver bay, or a flaxen liver chestnut. I didn't realize flaxen came in a silvery shade also, that's why I initially thought he was the silver bay. Cheers and Paints those Browns are gorgeous. I also like Manel's grullo.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

Mabel, I was so upset! But, it's a new day and your two babies are beautiful! Congrats on your first A papered colt!
Salvistar, can you unregister your baby and try to register them in the Bay/Brown or Chestnut breeders club? Or does that permanently unregister them from the other clubs (can't reregister later?). I would be very interested to see what he is, and that would do it without color testing him... Either way he's a stunner and obviously a conversation starter!
GM your ice babies are beautiful too! -
I have a few that I absolutely love.
This is a G2 Stallion. I just love the fact he looks like a Chestnut horse that someone through white paint at.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=321755
Or this little guy. He's a Gray Roan Splash Tobiano. I love when I can get three colors ona foal. He has just a few black pieces in his mane and his nose. It will be fun to watch him Gray out.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=337891
This one is out of my Bay Roan App and AbbyRoads Categorically. Again I like the three colors. This one needs a name.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=341174
This one was simply me not really looking close enough. I was looking for a Gray stallion to breed my Gray mare to and this was the outcome. Not only is he Gray but ha carries the wild bay gene
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=341163
I could go on for ever. It's so hard to decide who will go and who will stay. I want to keep them all -
FJ, that last colt is a brown, not a wild bay (even cooler in my opinion!)
-
I thought At was wild, my bad :) Still learning. Was not expecting him to come out so dark but I know gray takes time. It will be cool to watch him fade.
-
Not bad, just learning! A+ is wild bay, where they have almost no black on their legs. It will overpower normal bay (A) and both of those will overpower brown, so it's not super common to get brown horses! Several of us breed specifically for brown because it's so dark and pretty (or, again, at least I think so) so getting an unexpected brown is cool!
This is a Gray mare carrying brown and bay I own. She's completely grayed out now at 6 but was pretty stunning I thought at 3 and 4.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=301408 -
It is a very pretty color I think too. Certainly not what I was expecting. I noticed a few of my Red Dun's and my Amber Champagne Roan Dun all carry At. That might need to be something I play with.
-
If you want a brown stallion for your foundation mares, let me know. I have a couple!
-
I think I'll breed her to this guy who also carries At. When she's ready.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=322683
I have this 2G stallion that happens to carry A+ too that I think I will breed to this mare who also carries A+ next season to see what I get.

It's exactly what I was hoping for when I bred to him. I love apps but there is just something really cool about leopards.
-
Hopefully you get something like this presumed homozygous DP wild bay filly I got last year! I love these guys! -
Oh she's nice! That would be pretty.
-
Presumed heterozygous DP.....apparently it's time for another coffee!!!
-
I knew what you ment lol. I'll join you in another cup of coffee even though its 7:38pm here. A cup of coffee after dinner is always nice. I have a sign by my coffee maker that says "Coffee is always a good idea".Thanked by 1Cheers
-
The verdict is liver chestnut for my boy: he comes up in the chestnut breeders club.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=340649
Thanks for the idea Cheers. I'm glad he turned out flaxen so he still has the silver look.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

He's really pretty Salvistar
-
He's super awesome, Salvistar! Hope he gives you gorgeous dark babies when he grows up!
-
Yeah, fingers crossed he tests well enough to stay intact. Some of the spays and gelds in this thread just break your heart!SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

Here's another liver chestnut I really like. Both parents are chestnut and she has a full brother who is liver so I know her parents carry DP somewhere. She's up for sale though since she didn't get the rabicano I was hoping for.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

A Lucky Shot
My cute new show filly. I accidentally bred two frame horses together and - for the first time - didn't lose the foal! Hence her name.
Frosted Galaxy
Rated as good as his full brother. I might just sell him because I enjoy his brother's rabicano.
Untried Warden
Adore his homozygous tobiano "cat-tracks" and his snip.
Smooch of Stars
What a flashy colt! I love his face marking and the spots that almost blend with the splash tobiano. I'm just bummed that he has roan but I can probably breed that out of later generations.
Celestial Knight
She is going to be a cutie in the show ring, I bet. :)
Song of Space
She has an adorable face marking and I love the matching stockings on her back legs.
Seize the Stars
I love that her spotted blanket stops before her tobiano shoulder marking and those matching front stockings. :)
Silver Galaxy
With the roan, I think her dark mane and tail are gorgeous with her appy, splash, and tobiano markings.
Last one for the night! I got a wee bit excited with the pasture breeding opening.
A Curious Thing
Now what do we have here? She can't be chestnut and she can't be bay, but that doesn't look black to me. I registered her in Appaloosa, Dun, Splash, and Tobiano Breeders Clubs. Any guesses on her coloring? I will color test her tomorrow to appease my curiosity. -
Brown Dun? Champagne Dun? I really don't know, I have a similar mare, I will check this.
EDIT: I have this mare:
And she's probably brown dun. One of her parents was True Breeding Brown Appy, if I remember right.understand the significance of signatures -
My only thought is smokey black with no sooty...
-
Congrats everyone! They are all so nice!
