    Why does she need to be Era 3? I assume it's because you're looking for an exceptional producing mare, but not all Era 3 foundation mares are exceptional producers. Some older ordinary foundation mares are Era 3.

    And era has nothing to do with anything except for the Era leader boards. It doesn't automatically indicate quality or desirability and doesn't effect anything else about the foals produced. Breeding horses of different eras isnt worried about, only uneven generations. The foals from horses of different eras will always be given the oldest Era in their pedigree.
