To geld or not to geld, what are the advantages?
-
Hello all,
Whilst browsing the forums I have come across several people saying that they Gelded/spayed their horse both after taking some straws first or after showing and then retiring to a barn to keep their points.
Why do this? Does it mean the horse lives longer? Do they show better?
Thanks x

Yes, horses get extra training bonuses once they are altered. It only applies to how well they train for shows, and at some point in their lives they will level off in their training. That means that they will still get benefits from training, just no where near what they were getting in their 'youth'.Thanked by 1TallTreesYard
