eggs and straws
  • I can draw an egg from a mare every 5 days. I know that a mass flush will mean I cannot breed the mare this year, but if I pull single eggs every 5 days will I still be able to breed her? How many eggs can I store, and for how long can I keep them?

Straws, the 500 straw limit with a premium account - is that per horse, i.e. - 500 StallionA, 500 StallionB, 500 StallionC, 500StallionD, or is it 500 total - StallionA + StallionB + StallionC + StallionD = 500? Do straws impact a stallion's breeding limit of 50 mares; either by collecting them, or by using them?

I hope these questions make sense.
  • Yes, you can pull individual eggs and then breed the mare live cover. A quick route to papering a mare you're really interested in is to pull two eggs and then do a live cover breeding. This will give you the necessary 3 live foals in a single season. As for the time, it works like this: If you pull and egg on the 1st, you can pull the next one on the 6th, with 5 full days between the two.

I've never pulled enough straws to come up against that 500 limit, so I'll have to let someone else answer that question.

  • I'm not sure about the 500 straw limit either. However, I can answer your last question. Pulling and using straws does not count toward the stallion's limit of 50 breedings per season. I believe you can even pull straws from a stallion who has reached the 50 mare limit (unlike mares who can not have eggs pulled after they have been bred for the season).

  • You can pull straws from a stallion that has reached the 50 mare limit. I do it all the time.
