Consistency
-
Can someone explain consistency to me? I know that it effects horses results in shows and it carries on to the next generation if you breed them. But I'm wondering what the chances of getting a consistent goal from 1 inconsistent parent?Owner Of Bellwether Farm

I don't think anyone knows what the rates are...but I regularly get a handful of inconsistent foals from breeding parents that all test consistent. If you have inconsistent parents in the mix, one would assume the chance is higher.

Inconsistency creates a swing in what the horse can Score in a show.
So for example say three horses have a training level Score of 30:
A horse with perfect consistency will Score 30 in both shows for the week
A horse that is pretty consistent might Score 32 in one show and 28 in the second show that week.
An inconsistent horse might Score 37 in one show and 25 in the next show.
I believe inconsistency also lowers a horse's PT Score.
You can get consistent horses from inconsistent parents and vice versa. But consistent parents are more likely to have consistent babies and inconsistent parents are more likely to have inconsistent babies.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES
