Beginners Guide??
  • I've a searched a bit, but I wonder if there was any guides on how to play the game. Obviously I know you show/train and eventually breed but I feel like I'm missing something...

    Thanks!
  • This game is very complex, and here are many different strategies to the game. There is also an element of breeding for certain colors you like, and many people eventually get into wanting to breed higher quality horses with each gen, weather it be for the case of selling them, or getting foals that will make more money in shows, or for the thrill of getting your first star papered stallion. There is also a big element of breeding horses evenly by generations from foundation stock verses breeding horses unevenly to improve quality quicker but more unpredictable. How the free testing is set up, it is far more easy for foals of the parent from the higher quality parent to automatically be altered, so it takes a good grasp of the game to be able to do this effectively. I wish I had started breeding evenly to start out with unit I learned more instead of loosing three fillies from my best mare to the tests when breeding here to a very poor foundation quality stallion. I cannot explain everything in one post, but tried to mention several things. Please ask questions about specific things you have questions on and we can start with those, and then I'm sure people will add things they feel are important if we miss those.

Oh, and one more thing, to be able to sell horses, be sure to run mare advice/gelding advice and showing aptitude test on them before sending them to auction or posting for sale. We are much more likely to buy them if you do so as they are less risky that way.
  • Check out Breeding Info near the bottom of the left menu bar for general information about how to breed horses.

One reason for the lack of a comprehensive playing guide is because the game is continually being upgraded and improved so things can change pretty rapidly. Ammit does announce changes, usually in the pinned Announcements at the top of the page, when they are entered into this game.

Also, never hesitate to ask specific questions that you have. We're a friendly group and always glad to give new players a helping hand.

Since showing is the best money maker in the game, you can do a search for horses with the tattoo Available to Adopt. These will generally be horses that have collected a decent number of points that will add to your Daily Showing bonus.

  • Can additional pastures be added?
  • Yes, you have to buy them with real cash or IVs (Investment Vouchers). Look under the Upgrades tab.

  • No, you can't buy pastures with game money. We've asked Ammit/Ellie/the Game Creator about that a lot, but it's extremely unlikely to happen. You can buy barns of different sizes with IVs, though. :)
  • Breeding evenly vs unevenly? Can you explain pls Wild?
  • How do your horses age up? All mine are 2 yrs old and can only be trained and showed right now.
  • Tomorrow morning all of your horses will be a year older. :-) Horses age up when the new game year begins, and in this game a new game year begins every month.

Looking at your stable, I see that you will be able to breed your stallion, Wrangle, to your mare Chili Pepper on Jan. 3rd, when breeding opens for free accounts. Stallions can be bred when they are 3. Mares have to be 4 years old before they can be bred. If you can afford it today, you might make a couple of 3 or 4 year old mares. Not too many, because you will need to save money for breeding.
