Help with a GMT decision?
  • I started the game during the anniversary upgrades (pretty much a newbie) and have just lately been figuring out the game in ernest. I've decided I don't want agouti in my bloodline, just black and chestnut (I'm not huge on bays). It would make sense to GMT my Diamond Age stallion, as he's my main boy and the what he's produced is fantastic - I even have the GMT tokens. Problem is there are 26 living offspring I would have to sell off. Is this a huge mistake? There are a couple I'm partial to, including a colt I'd originally planned to keep (I have others as good as him). Basically I'm looking for either encouragement to bite the bullet or a warning before I do it.

    Advice appreciated. Thanks!
  • Sadly, yes, if you want to GMT him, you'll have to Yum every foal that's been bred from him. That's also assuming he's still 4 or younger. Basically, you'll have to decide if you want to keep the colt and forever breed to a stud you might prefer to be different, or delete a foal and be happy with the stud you have for another real life year. :/
There's Always Next Season (or pasture breeding), as the mantra goes, and my art teacher always tells me that if I've done something before, I can do it again, and probably better. :)

Of course, you could always just buy a plain black brindle guy and put whatever you want onto him. :P
  • If your stallion is still just 4 years old, that is definitely a viable option. I would recommend that you look at the GMT lab and count up the cost of whatever genes you're hoping to change first, since GMTing can get VERY expensive and can be very addictive!!! That said, GMTing rank specials makes a lot of sense because you know they are always top quality horses in the game.

Perhaps the most important "mantra" in the game is There's Always Next Season! You will replace those foals with horses that have genes you prefer.
  • Thanks! He's only 4, and all I would do is change the AtAt to aa. Pretty sure changing him would come out cheaper than an alternative. It'll free up some barn space as well I suppose...
  • Well here he is - new and improved. Minus some children.
