Inbreeding?
-
Hey guys!
So, I made a boo boo... I got a pasture foal who has the same grand dam on both sides. I'm gutted because the foal is a third gen A paper and is a bit cute.
What do you do if this happens? Do you yum?
Foal in question:

Thanks! -
I line breed all the time. I'm not particularly a fan of line and in breeding in real life, but since we are only talking color genetics instead of health/longevity/conformation genetics here, I don't think it's an issue.

In practical terms, there is no danger or penalty for inbreeding in the game, except for the usual warning about pairing horses that both carry potentially homozygous lethal genes. I have some pasture started lines where putting second gen into the pasture for breeding often results in inbred foals. Personally, I don't worry too much about it, although some players don't like to see inbred lines and shy away from buying inbred horses. Others, like me, don't care much.
So, since the colt sounds like he's superior to sire and you like his markings, go ahead and keep and breed him if you wish, especially if you think you'll be keeping him and his offspring in-house--as long as you decide you don't mind a bit of inbreeding.De gustibus non disputandum.
