Another question: does this have mare a DP?
-
CLICK
I just created this mare and after several rerolls I saw that she has dapples. As you can see, the mare has double sooty. Can she have a single DP gene?understand the significance of signatures -
No DP. The dappling you see is attached to the sty gene. I purposely breed for sty just to get this kind of dappling. S+ also has a dappling attached to it. It's more subtle. I did a horse search and found this guy who shows off the S+ dappling nicely. He belongs to Kerredans_Corral.

Oh, right. That's what I thought. However I like her colors.
Thanks for help!understand the significance of signatures -
If I had her she would qualify to be in my foundation line up. She's double sooty and has dapples. I love her :)
-
There's a shade similar to this that is DP, but the way you can tell is because if you color test they don't have Sooty. If they are homoz sooty and not way dark, not DP.
-
Hmm...they really test without sooty? I didn't know that. On the first HAJ server I have a mare that is quite dark and has yellow mane and tail, but she tested that she has a single sooty gene. I have never seen any horses with single sooty which have such dark colors and yellowish manes... Quite interesting.understand the significance of signatures

Hey Pine! Here is a quick look at DP and sooty from my homozygous DP homozygous sooty stallion.
Red King is DP DP Ssty Ssty
This is one of his daughters. She is DP dp Ssty Ssty
This is another daughter with DP dp Ssty S
It is also possible to get a horse that will look similar to the middle horse but tests Ssty S and they are called liver chestnuts. Those horses are DP DP. Hope that all helps a little!
-
I just noticed this pretty well showcases the possible shades of flaxen manes and tails too!
-
Well...this is how does my mare from the first server look:
She's a foundation horse, so I can't say that she got genes from parents, but doesn't she have DP even if the color test said that she's heterozygous sooty?understand the significance of signatures -
I would say she looks as dark as the bottom horse from my post who is DP dp Ssty S. So if your girl is Ssty S, I would be willing to bet she's DP!
-
And I love her appy spotting! Has she got some thing else going with the appy to give her those subtle spots on her shoulders or is that just her varnish?
-
No. It's varnish. She was created from Red Based Appaloosa (or something similar) DHH. Really, her name is Should Not Exist, because...she shouldn't exist. I created her when the DHH's "Time Left" info was saying something on the minus. Strange bug.
And another horse. He has so hard varnish, but I don't think he's DP as he has homozygous sooty.understand the significance of signatures -
Very cool! And yes, I agree that boy doesn't have DP, but that's a great example of how DP horses slip through and surprise us if we don't color test--he's not much lighter than your mare.
