Welcome to the wonderful world of Hunt and Jump.
It's a complex game, so don't get discouraged if you feel somewhat lost at first. The FAQ User Guide gives a good overview to start with. Following the tutorial exercises provided can walk you through a lot of the very basic stuff.
If you go to the left menu, click on Community--Buddy Chats, you will find the Beginners Barn at the top of the list of Public Chats. Just click on it and use the request to join feature at the top of the page. Since it's public, you'll immediately be made a member and you can ask questions there.
Please feel free to ask questions here in the open forum as well. We're a friendly group and like giving new players a helping hand. We're not in competition with each other in this game. Our main opponent is the life-like variability built into the game. This makes it hard to predict what will result from any action. About the only thing predictable is that if you breed a plain chestnut stallion to a plain chestnut mare, you will get a plain chestnut foal. :D Otherwise, expect surprises.
My favorite HaJ surprise happened quite a few years ago when I was new to the game. I bred a black mare to a black stallion, based just on appearance, not the color test. They gave me a palomino foal! :O Going back to check their test results, I found that the mare was a Smokey Black, hiding cream, which she passed on to the baby and neither parent had passed on the gene for black hair.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
