About gifting barns using hbs: You would have to send enough hbs so your SS can buy the IV's needed to buy the barn. There is no way to transfer IVs.

I'm not sure about the answers to your embryo questions.

I believe that you would only count what the horse actually cost you to create. Sale value fluctuates too much to be a reliable amount for tallying.

As an Elf for SS, along with being a participant, I am capable of making embryos or babies (in any of the closed genes I own) to facilitate SS gifts if someone is incapable of making them (such as not having premium upgrade or not owning one of the closed genes their recipients owns).

In fact I've already been asked by a couple of participants to facilitate obtaining and gifting their SS with certain closed genes.

Ways this can be done is a transfer of money between the Elf and The Sender then the participant only has the standard 1hb costs since the game wont allow less or the Sender buys a show horse from the Elf for the cost of the transaction to make the embryo/implant etc and then the Elf delivers the end result to your recipient for 1 hb thereby maintaining your anonymity. (least this is my understanding of it)

I can happily send straws/eggs the same way if needed.

This is also how the Elf can facilitate a transfer of HBs to your SS. Sandy is correct when she says there's no way to transfer IVS/GMTS otherwise, unless you use RL and put your SSs ID in instead of your own.

I think there is a bit of wiggle room in the what it costs to buy vs value of the horse and whether it counts towards your value. After all a lot of people are drastically marking down horses for people to gift their SS but if those horses were GMTd or had expensive genes their actual value could well meet your "amount" requirements. Such as if it's a Candy Pony that still has the GMT attached, its worth the cost of one GMT (250k hbs) that is something that can be valued out as set worth of the horse because you can look in the GMT lab and see how many IVs it takes to equal the GMT/Gene and how many hbs it would cost to do. Those are set values. (Though if you have a Candy that you made for create price and that is your gift I'd also add in a straw bundle or some show ponies because really you should spend at least the minimum amount of hbs for your group on your SS imo)

A Candy pony with the GMT attached is definitely worth the value of the GMT itself.
As far as embryo/foal debate I think there is preference towards the actual foal for the exact reason you suggested it can be pretested so you and your SS know whether they are receiving a show pony or an intact.

How do you reveal yourself if you haven’t got your own private chat to put everything in? Do you send your SS a PM and ask them to add you to their chat? Do we have to wait until it’s December 24th in game time? Because I’m in Australia and it’ll be Christmas here by then just about!

Squishlime, I've changed it to Dec 23rd for exactly that reason. Yes, you wait until then, then send a PM to your assigned recipient, unless you want to do anonymous gifts. Anonymous gifts are not SUPPOSED to go out before the 20th, but no one ever pays attention to that! :P

The candy pony is somewhat confusing on value. We've had a discussion about this in the Santa chat. Lots of opinions about it.

I don't own any of the genes my SS has either squish. I'm just doing the best I can & hope they are happy with it.

Typically I tend to tally up the price I paid unless I had been struggling to make the minimum amount (one year I spent 100hbs on 100 straws so I tallied up pull price) but for the most part people aren’t going to be combing through the records and forums to find prices on the gifts they received and counting it up to see if you are over or under the limits and if they are they aren’t going to last long here because our community isn’t like that.

This is supposed to be fun not stress yourself out.

As for closed genes I only own ice 14 on this server but have found the other players extremely helpful for arranging for the gifts to be sent to my SS’s.

(or ask them to put up a create horse for the price for you to buy or if some of the straws are open ask them to add the totals up and send those straws to you priced for all the straws)
