Red Dead Redemption 2 Horses
-
Hey guys! Red Dead 2 just came out and one of the things it really expanded on this time around is the horses in the game. Even though I don't own a console, I was watching some youtube videos on their system because.... well, horses.
They way they named their colors is really baffling me, though. Some names are really technical and correct, while other names are absolute rookie mistakes. I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts on the topic:

Interesting. I’ve only played the original Red Dead so far, waiting for my brother to get the new one. There’s some very strange colour names there though. Reverse dapple roan?

it's not coloring correct but holy crap is it fun to just wonder the free world on something that can rollback side pass and respond to your character arther!!!Thanked by 1Spectrum

Yea, there meant to be easily understood by people who don't know horse colors that want to play. It's a universal thing.
-
Yea, I think it's pretty clear they knew what they were doing ... but took some artistic liberties so that:
1 - The everyman could have a good idea of what's going on
2 - No two colors repeat
But at the same time I get crazy cognitive dissonance when I look at the list and see Amber Champagne, Sooty Buckskin and then White. One of these things is not like the other~
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it though, Ladywade! I love watching all these videos and it seems like every player has a different favorite breed even it it's not the "best" stats-wise. It shows how the devs put a lot of time and effort into replicating a true riding experience and people can tell whether they ride or not!! -
LOL may or may not be at Horsethief at this point!!!Thanked by 1BlackWyld

If you've learned everything there was about development like me, lol. (Crazy rdr fan) They spent 4 to 5 years just on the horses. They had a whole team making them. Just the horses! It really shows they really wanted to make it as accurate as they could. And my oh my, did they do a good job! My fav was my White Mountain beauty. He was a Dapple Gray Thoroughbred with a white mane and tail. My second was the first horse you get, I named him Biscuit. He of course, was a Mahogany Bay Tennessee Walker with the red and white mane and tail. My third, :( poor baby got shot and killed. She was the White Arabian. I named her Snow Crystal. I miss her...Thanked by 1BlackWyld

And I miss all my other horses that were stolen from me at the epilogue of the game! Beull the Golden Cream Dutch Warmblood. Otherwise called the wonder horse. Ember my Amber Champagne Missouri Fox Trotter boy. White Mountain as you know. And Snow Crystal as you know. :(
