Opinions on Mare vs Stud
-
Do you think mares are more sought after than studs or Vice versa when it comes to the market?
-
With the exception of foundations, I think mares will always be more sought after. After all, a single stud can breed 50 live covers per season, while a mare can only breed once per season unless you are able to pull eggs. The mares are more valuable when they have sought after genes, like homozygous snowflake, KP, GP, closed genes or rare genes. You could get 5 or 6 colts in a season that match what you want, but only get one or two fillies.
-
I have no idea. Stallions can produce more foals in a season than mares, but it makes more sense to have lots of mares and fewer stallions, and even more neutered show horses than intact ones.
In this game, breeding mainly for selling horses to other players in not the best route to a large bank account. After all, most players are creating and breeding their own herds of horses, so unless you're offering something pretty special genetically or in breeding or showing ability, buyers might be scarce for any given run-of-the-mill horse.
Gathering a strong group of neutered show horses and showing all horses not in pastures regularly is the surest way to build your bank account. All horses in a show except the one that comes in last are awarded points based on where they placed. These points determine your nightly showing bonus, which will continue to build, slowly but surely, as you continue showing your horses.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Stallions are more valuable/useful as foundations if they have something special, simply because they can have more foals, sell straws etc
As far as selling foals, fillies are more easily sold because most people end up with too many colts!
Show horses with lots of points are always valuable
