  • Can anyone link me to any snowflake informative posts?
I know less than nothing on snowflake.. =))
I'm looking to get it, but can't remember any of the info about how to use it effectively.. Ha :|
Any and ALL help appreciated! :x

Aside note. Dumb question of the day.. we can't add anything GMT. Wise to anything other than foundations? Correct?

  • Snowflake kind of works like kp or gp in that you have to have two sets of genes working together. For snowflake, you have to have two copies of snowflake and one copy of LP. The LP turns on the ability to see any spots, at least that is my very unscientific way of thinking about it in my head. I think for maximum effectiveness, a hmz LP and hmz snowflake is the way to go, since offspring will be guaranteed to be het for both. I had a het LP het snowflake foundation mare, and I got several solid offspring from breeding to like stallions before I cottoned on to breeding her to hmz LP stallions. I hope this helps some.
For the other question, on the roving gene sales it is foundation only. In the lab you can gmt missed genes from parents.
